Any less of a charismatic leading actor and this film would have been dead within the first 15 minutes. However Hollywood's current bad boy, Colin Farrell, uses that animal magnetism of his to full advantage as a man pinned down in a phone booth by an unseen sniper. Watching a man trapped in a phone booth for 90 minutes could get old extremely fast, but Farrell sinks his teeth into this character, compelling the audience to join him in that crowded space for the hour and a half it takes for the film to unfold.Any less of a charismatic leading actor and this film would have been dead within the first 15 minutes. A phone call can change your life, but for one man it can also end it. Set entirely within and around the confines of a New York City phone booth, thriller follows Stu Shepard, a low-rent media consultant who is trapped after being told by a caller - a serial killer with a sniper rifle - that he'll be shot dead if he hangs up.A sudden and shocking act of violence near the booth draws the attention of the police, who arrive backed with a small army of sharpshooters. They believe that Stu, not the unseen caller of whom they remain unaware, is the dangerous man with a gun.The senior officer on the scene, Captain Ramey, tries to talk Stu out of the booth. But unbeknownst to Ramey, his team, the media circus that has flocked to the site - and Stu's wife, Kelly, and his client /prospective ... We rate Phone Booth VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT! Yes, the movie is a single stage set and takes place in a downtown phone booth the whole way through, but dont be fooled. Its not all of the rest of the movies that take place in a single location. Its all about mind games, and is a suspenseful thriller, with not a lot of action. Phone booth offers great writing, great acting cast, and will keep you glued to the edge of your seat. You'll be sure to want to own it to watch over again. We've watched it many times ourselves. Excellent movie!
I completely love this movie! Colin Farrell gave an excellent performance and his character's heatfelt confessions toward the end of the movie is award-worth. The sadistic nature of "The Voice" was performed flawless by Keifer Sutherland. Don't miss this movie!
