design flaws to an almost great saw
Poulan makes a good design in their older saws such as the model 2150. They are light weight and powerful enough to justify the length bars installed on the saws. The oiler systems are top notch and with a properly sharpened chain they do great work for the money. However, there are about 4 flaws with the engineering which could have remedied this design into a very good product. #1 the cylinders are not hardened or coated as are the higher quality saws with alloys that allow them to operate under higher temperatures and wear less, #2 The exhaust gases are emitted forward of the power head instead of to the right side causing hot exhaust gases to partially recirculate back through the cooling intake side of the saw and over heating the cylinder when cutting larger wood which can block ... Do not run these saws above 85 degrees in large wood and always use high quality synthetic 2 cycle oil.

Poulan 2150 Chainsaws
This model does NOT have design flaws ... such talk is pure nonsense. This saw is designed for a specific market. It is most certainly not a professional design. Is it an excellent homeowner design ?? Yes ... fits the need perfectly. They are made to be lightweight, versatile and do the work a homeowner typically requires. It will not tackle a giant oak, but it is more than adequate for small trees or trim work. Likewise, it does not have the expense of a professional saw. If you need a good reliable and easy to maintain saw, this is a good choice. It will not break the bank and it will get the job done. Bad internet reviews AWESOME SAW!!!
Recently saw 18" poulan 2150 saw on Craigslist. Priced $25 won't start parts saw. So I who likes projects, bought the saw took it home opened it up plugged tight with sawdust and oil, never seen a saw that plugged! Changed fuel filter, air filter, check spark plug totally junk fowled out! New plug, thurow cleaning, dumped his poorly mixed gas out, put high octane 40:1 mixture gas in, oil in pushed bulb 5 times 4 pulls and never quit sincel 3rd pull cold 1 pull warm cuts way faster than the Husqvarna 18" I have!!! My firewood go to saw!!! I sell cords like crazy cut dusk till Dawn every Sunday saw never quite!! Looked up reviews after buying it an junk, won't start, waste of money, poulan pull-ann sucks etc. The guy was idiot don't believe what you read, most don't k ow what they are ...
