Industrial Quality Hi-Temp ESD Mat
Pros: > Industrial quality, 2-layer ESD mat. Just like the mats I used working during my career as an Electrical Engineer >Wrist straps and grounding hardware included with mat > I purchased the 24X48" size. Covers most of my bench, area suitable for my needs. Multiple sizes available, so you can get just what you require for your situation. >Heavy (literally) duty 2-layer high temperature mat takes a lot of "abuse" such as hot solder splashes, setting soldering iron on mat for short periods of time. Top side surface resistant to chemical spills, easy to wipe up so no need to worry about your coffee :-) >This mat will last a long time. Good value for a mat of this quality. You can trade-off total cost versus size to meet your needs and budget. Cons: >I noticed some "rubber odor" ... Pros: > Industrial quality, 2-layer ESD mat. Since the top side of the mat has the smooth protective surface, there is no odor from the top side. You can unroll the mat and leave it outside/in the garage for a few hours/days? before installing on your bench. How long depends on the individual and how "sensitive" you are to this outgassing. I notice the same thing when I buy a new mouse pad for the computer. Or open windows, run a fan/air filter until the odor dissipates. Once installed the exposed surface area for the odor is just the edges, that's why I like to expose the back side before installing to get rid of most of the odor faster. Overall I highly recommend this product.
