|Movie/TV Title:||Star Trek: The Next Generation||Genre:||TV Shows|
|Nearly two decades after the cancellation of the original STAR TREK television series, creator Gene Roddenberry launched the first of what was to be four phenomenally successful spinoffs with STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION. Set in the 24th century (nearly 100 years after the stewardship of Captain Kirk), the series introduced an all-new cast of intergalactic travellers exploring the farthest reaches out of outer space on a mission to chart new planets and alien civilizations. Ship commander Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) anchored the crew of the Starship Enterprise-D with a sensitive reserve that marked a distinct contrast to his trigger-happy predecessor, whose role was assumed by the Kirk-like second-in-command, William Riker (Jonathan Frakes). Rounding out the cast were the Spock-like android, Data (Brent Spiner); blind officer, Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton); Klingon officer, Worf (Michael Dorn); ship doctor, Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden); her teenage son, Wesley (Wil Wheaton); and psychic psychiatrist, Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis). Considered one of the best STAR TREK spinoffs for its intelligent writing and superb sci-fi special effects, THE NEXT GENERATION lives on in cult fandom with this complete collection of episodes from the series' debut season.|

Star Trek: TNG. It's the first season
So, I've loved Star Trek TNG since I was a kid, we used to watch it as a family whenever it would air. I bought this for my mom this year for Mother's day and she really loves it. As far as the season, I think that this is probably TNG's worst season, but it's also the first. The cast is a little weak and shaky at times, but it all comes down (I think) to most of them getting used to their roles and how to really play Star Trek characters. A lot of different sales people tried to get me to buy different seasons since "the first season is the worst" but I wanted to start a collection from the beginning, not the middle. I would say that this is most definately a requirement for the TNG fan, but go ahead and skip it for Season 4 or 5 if you just want to have a season or two of Star Trek. Hey, maybe even go for the Fan's Choice Star Trek series, I've heard good things about those.
I like Star Trek the Next Generation season one.
We do not have tv hook up, So we watch videos. Star Trek Next Generation is a good addition to our collection. Season 1 the actors have not connected yet. The show gets better in later seasons. No cussing in the show, very good. At times their is a male actor in the background who is wearing a skirt(not good). I also like the packaging easy to get the dvd you want, folding out to see all 7 of the dvds. the dvd plays one side with a large number telling you what disc 1-7. This is nice if you need reading glasses
Average at best better leave Season 1 for Hardcore trekkies..
This is the weakest of the 7 seasons. The first pilot episode was bordering on laughable. Most of the episodes in this season are average at best with some nearing un-watchable. I imagine back then many probably doubted this franchise will move forward after a weak first season. With maybe 2 or 3 episodes that save the season from been a near bust. I gather most of the 5 star reviews are from serious hard core "Trekkies". If you are a casual/mid level (or you are a completest) Star Trek fan you may want to skip on this one. Not to say that it has no merits but as a whole its more of a miss. From season 2 forward its where it starts to get good even Season 2 has some ho-hum episodes but is a much better overall and you can start seen TNG take shape. Season 1 is dated and didnt age to well. Three to seven been the best.
The season that started it all.
I had to buy this series, it was a miracle when they brought back the Star Trek franchise but with a twist! Tbe time is future in the future and with new characters. Most of the hard core Trekkies did not think this series was going to last but were they wrong! All twenty three episodes in crystal clear format. What dissappoited me was that Paramount did not add the t.v. promos and trailers that fascinated the viewing audience and the deleted and out-takes of the series. Where about the behind the scenes of the series. Because the series reminded me of my child hood memories I could not say no to this series. It was a must have.
Return to the Final Frontier
Following up on the success of the first five Star Trek movies, Paramount brought the voyages of the Starship Enterprise back to the small screen in the form of Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) with a new starship and a new cast set some 70 years further in the future than the original 1960s series. This initial DVD release of TNG is attractively packaged and the discs are well protected. If you enjoyed TNG back in the during its first run on television from 1987-1994, you'll love having the series at your fingertips to relive all the fun. Having just acquired the first season at a thrift shop, this lot of seasons 2-7 was perfect for me to complete my collection at an attractive price.
