|Game Name:||Super Mario Strikers||Release Year:||2005|
|Mario has held many jobs over the years, such as a tennis pro, boxing referee, golfer, and plumber. In "Super Mario Strikers" for the Nintendo GameCube, Mario can add one more sports career to his list: professional soccer player. Developed by Next Level Games, "Super Mario Strikers" is the first game in the "Strikers" series. You play as one of the characters from the Mario universe in this five-on-five soccer game. In Europe and Australia, this GameCube title went by a different name: "Mario Smash Football." The original release date for this Nintendo GameCube game featuring the quick-footed Mario was December 5, 2005.You'll start each match by picking a team captain. These captains are the stars of various Mario-related franchises. From the Super Mario Bros. series, you have stars like Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, and Yoshi. From "Donkey Kong" comes the titular character Donkey Kong. From the Wario series comes franchise stars Wario and Waluigi. Each character has access to a unique super move. These super strikes are powerful moves that are devastating to the enemy goalie. For example, Mario's super strike lets him deliver a powerful flame kick that will rocket the ball into the goal. After selecting your team captain, it's time to choose your team that is comprised of familiar faces from the franchise such as Toads, Koopas, and Birdos. All teams share the same goalie, which is Kritter from the "Donkey Kong Country" series.Outside of the super moves, gameplay in "Super Mario Strikers" resembles an average game of soccer with a few changes. All the familiar positions are present, including defenders and a striker. If a game ends in a tie, a sudden death mode starts, ensuring there is a victor. "Super Mario Strikers" does feature one change: no referee. This means that anything goes on the field. You can kick and punch the other players while attempting to steal the ball. Even the evil Bowser will occasionally stomp onto the field, decimating both friend and foe alike. Scattered throughout the area are power-ups, including shells, bombs, and banana peels. Use these items to trip up your opponent, allowing your team to steal the ball.This sports game from Nintendo features seven stadiums, while the gameplay is the same on each one. There are also eight Cups to participate in, with the difficulty increasing with each Cup. For example, the Mushroom Cup is the first Cup and the easiest one. The last Cup is the Super Bowser Cup, which will put your Super Mario Strikers skills to the test. Complete every Cup to become the Super Mario Strikers champion. This GameCube game also features adjustable difficulty settings and unlockable items and cheats. Up to four players can play on a single team, and teams of two can square off against each other.Super Mario Strikers has a rating of E for Everyone, which means gamers of all ages can enjoy this GameCube title. Nintendo's unique twists ensure this soccer game is appealing and fun for a wide audience. Whether alone or with other players, this title is a fantastic Nintendo video game for your GameCube collection.|

One of the Best Mario Sports Games Ever!!!
Super Mario Strikers (Gamecube, 2005) One of the Best Mario Sports Games Ever!!! That being said, I find that Mario Sports lose their replay value after a couple weeks, Super Mario Strikers holds true to this notion in single player mode. However Multi-player is a whole other story. Super Mario Strikers multi-player is very simple but can be incredibly fun with 3 or more people. Don't use tournament mode, just use Grudge Match Mode and keep track of your own stats. My friends and I sometimes burn up to 3 hours doing this. We also turn off items, bowser attack and outlaw hitting, it makes the game a lot more fun if you actually want a challenge. Pros: - Great Multiplayer Mode - The Goal Celebrations are pretty Good - Good Selection of Main Characters - Ability to daze Goalies with Hard shots - Perfect Passes - Hitting people into the fences (The screaming is awesome) Cons: - Not Enough Supporting Teammates (Two different Turtle types? Where are the Goombas?) - Colour Scheme for players can sometimes be confusing (both teams have purple support players) - The game is very hard on higher settings - The hit button gets very annoying/Not able to turn off hitting in options menu - Unlockables/Cheats leave you wanting more - Single Player mode is short and loses it's replay value after a week - Single Player mode might be too hard for younger players (10 and under) - Goalies are extremely inconsistent - Easy ability to pull off power shots Final Verdict: Even though the cons outweigh the pros in this game mainly due to flaws and replay value in single player mode, this game makes up for it in Multiplayer mode. 4/5 Rent or Buy: If you have a bunch of friends who spend a lot of time hanging out at your place, or if you have more than one child this game is a definate Buy. PLEASE VOTE IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW HELPFUL. Thank you.
This is the best Mario Sports game out there!
Reviewed for Big Boss Games by: TTM I never even heard that this game was coming out when it first released, but then my friend came over and he had bought it on a whim, and we fell in love. This is the best Mario Sports game out there and differs from the other sports titles in the Mario series. It is rather refreshing to see a Mario game where the characters are not playing soccer to, say, free the twelve star maidens to chase Bowser away from the land, so they can party all night. This game is lacking any type of story, other then to win a tournament. It is full of out right hatred for the other players, and is quickly evident. The characters begin each match with a taunt, and then continue to bash each other around into electrical fences. (I really enjoy the sound of Daisy screaming as she hits an electrical Fence) It is the most fun I have ever had playing a soccer game. The basic play is you and a team of 5 others (Sidekicks) is on the field competing against another team of 5. It will take tackles, shells, and the Captains (main character) super striker move to beat this match. Over all this was a great game. Its graphics were not the best in the world, but they suited very well for this game. The one player mode was pretty fun, but where this game is best played in is multi-player mode. The controls are quick and easy to master, which is good for any player, new or veteran. I give Super Mario Strikers an 8 out 10.
Another Nintendo Wacky Sports Game
Nintendo did it again with Mario Strikers. This soccer based game is loads of fun as you pick your character (includes all nintendo characters from Wario to Birdo). Enjoy smashing your opponent with power up's like red shells and bombs to stop them from scoring a goal. Use your main character to kick a power goal worth 2 points. Grab three friends plus yourself and take on the computer in cup battles. Winning these cup battles unlocks several new features and cheats. Lots of fun, gameplay is fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat. A must for any fan of nintendo's sports games. Good for all ages!
Great multi-player game with non-stop action
Various ways and modes to play, good controls, nice sounds and visuals. Aside from the disturbing sounds of characters getting electrocuted (which could be turned off) and the suggestive cut-scenes (esp. Peach and Daisy), this is a solid game.

Super Mario Strikers
This is a great Mario game that is soccer (football) with a twist. You can hit, throw items, and even have a Bowser attack in game (the last two things being optional) to add extra challenges. Overall it's a very fun, acrobatic type 4v4 melée soccer game that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
