I am so glad they finally came out with a new format for these Thomas DVD's. I found the old narrative format of the older Thomas DVD's so boring. I had to sit through watching the old style Thomas DVD's with 2 kids. I felt like pulling my hair out and I could not understand what kids saw in these DVD's. This new Thomas DVD has the trains actually speaking in their own voices. Their faces actually move too which helps make the trains look less creepy. The storylines are much improved and much more enjoyable for adults to sit through. My 2 year old son loved watching this DVD. I'm sure we will be watching it together over and over again for the next few months. I would highly recommend this DVD to anyone who has a child who is as crazy for Thomas as my 2 year old son is.

Listen....if there was a video with Thomas just sitting there blowing his whistle every 3 seconds - my 4 year old Grandson would LOVE IT - and if he loves it - then I Love it too ... ;) This is a cute story (as is usual) and it ends on a happy note .. actually important ... I personally like the updated Thomas stories--where Thomas' mouth moves! LOL And we love Hiro the new addition...is there MORE TOYS now? lol - We are looking forward of course to the new movie Misty Island Rescue - not only for the movie but the new Thomas toys! Wahhh hooo - there goes MY retirement funds - well you never will see a hearse pulling a Uhaul - right? If you like Thomas - your gonna love Hero of the Rails ---
This is a must see movie for your little ones. Trust me.
First I just want to say .. Thomas can talk! This is the first movie I have seen where Thomas actually moves his lips. My 4 year old son absolutely loooves this movie! with tons of racing and roaring down the track, it's sure to be a favorite! It has great characters both old and new and a great plot that will keep your little one engaged for the entire film. My son has memorized the song at the end and knows most of the movie by heart. I am glad they are making more animated movies, because we will definitely be buying more. This film is great for the Thomas enthusiasts and those who haven't been introduced yet. There isn't really anything I don't like about the film it's just great fun. So grab some fishie crackers and your sippy cup and check this movie out!
Great movie, great message! Kids seem to identify with Thomas & Friends.
I bought this DVD because my foster son asked for it. He doesn't ask for much and I have watched enough Thomas cartoons on TV with him to be confident that he would be entertained by this movie and that the messages and values contained would be positive. For an animated show that is not anywhere near as high tech and loud and flashy as most cartoons, it sort of surprises me that he and other children are so fond of Thomas & Friends ... at times, it seems kind of slow and boring to me but my foster son loves it and that's all that matters. Thomas & Friends seems to resonate with kids by its depiction of a simple, innocent, safe and secure way of life.
Hero of the Rails with Thomas and his new friend
This is an excellant movie if you are a Thomas fan you will love it. It teaches all the values that we have all grown to expect from the Thomas movies. The engines speak independantly with natural expressions which gives more of a feel for their individual character. This particular movie has a large emphasis on excepting differences, compassion for others, the value of friendship, and following through when you give your word to do something. It keeps you guessing to the very end of the movie to see what the outcome will be. I don't think anyone will be disappointed by purchasing this movie. Hope this helps. Yakbik
