In writer-director Frank Darabont's THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison for the murders of his wife and her lover in the late 1940s. But Andy's seemingly stoic acceptance of his unjust imprisonment hides a fierce determination for freedom. This beautifully crafted movie features touching and sincere performances from the entire cast, with an uplifting message about humanity's indomitable spirit and the redemptive value of hope. Based on the novella RITA HAYWORTH AND SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION by Stephen King, Darabont's intriguing adaptation is easily one of the finest films of the 1990s.

    Justice prevails

    You know, once and awhile a movie comes along that makes you think. This movie is fiction, but there is every reason to believe it could have happened...because we live under a system that isn't pure or fair. So, the strong willed survive and make a plan...and stick to that plan. Andy as portrayed by Tim Robbins had a plan from day one. Sure, the acting was never better, sure the story is fascinating...but it wasn't until I watched it the second time did I get the picture. When life deals you lemons, best you can do is make lemonade. Get this one, and watch it...and learn that all is not what is made to look like. Don't expect justice all the time, and be prepared...because even you may wind up accused of something you didn't do. Can happen. I draw from my own personal ...

    The Shawshank Redemption

    Well, I've collected over 2,500 moviex, with about 60% that I copied of TV over the last 15 years. Way back I prepared a list from Silent through the 60's with a few after. Created 16 manuals, listed as Bette Davis, Adventure, Biography, Comedy, Drama, Musical, Mystery, Silent, War, Western & Sciene Fiction, and the last - Are You Being Served-Blondie-Abbott & Costello-Keeping Up Appearnces-Chaplain. These manuals list the movies, description, Actors & Actresses and Posters (Some I found on the Internet, magazines, others I created by running the movie on my computer and picked the Title and One Image. Created another Mnaual listing the Actors & Actress, their movies (listing numbers that I have) along with a picture of all of them, and their awards. My last manual lists alphabetically all ...

    You have to watch this before you die.

    This movie is so great in so many ways. Morgan Freeman is the narrator. Just listening to his voice puts me at ease. I don't think I've ever rooted so hard for a character as I did for Tim Robbins' "Andy Dufresne." And Stephen King wrote the story. It's just a really good movie, and maybe you'll just watch it because it has a cult following. But on it's own, it's still an amazing movie.

    Shawshank Redemption

    Although I had already seen this movie once, reviewing it was advised for a literary workshop I attended along with two other movies. The second time I watched it was a good as the first which sometimes doesn't happen when you are familiar with the plot. The acting is good and the movie keeps your interest. Also, the redemption theme has some literary value.

    Incredible movie, GREAT acting, great story as well

    This movie is just terriffic!!!! Famous stars, doing what they do best. Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins team up to make this movie incredible!
