One thing that bugs about the GH series is that each game has different game play. I usually play to 'pro battle', but lately the play is changing a lot. Beatles is geared towards band play, which isn't bad - but you can't go head to head and compare stats (except % and streak).
With that complaint out of the way, the game itself is really good. Good selection of songs (assuming you like the Beatles), nice added touches of lead-ins before most songs - and the graphics. Yeah! This is a great part of the game. They're something else. It's even sometimes tough to play the game since you're trying to follow what's going on around you (I am the Walrus was fun!)
I also found that many of the songs are more chord based, instead of solo based. This makes for a different feeling while playing. I play on hard level, and find that the chord changes are quite difficult on the harder songs.
If you're still reading, great - I'll cut it off here. If you like the Beatles music, cool graphics, different gameplay - this is a great game for you. If you like shredding the Van Halen and Ozzie tunes, then this might not be the game for you. It took me a while to warm up to it, but I am enjoying this game a lot now.Read full review
The Beatles in general are AWESOME, however their songs as far as this game are easy to play. Maybe it was the creators of the game. It is a great game. I just didnt feel as it was that challenging. I played every song for the first time on hard and got 5 stars on everyone of them. I moved it up to the expert level and pretty much did the same thing. Yes Beatles music rocks but their songs are simple and thats why they are as great as they were. I bought this game for my father who grew up when the Beatles were still together. I really enjoy meeting him on the wi fi connect so we can play together. Overall I am very happy with the game. Just think they could have made it more challenging.
The music of awesome because it is the Beatles. The only problem with it is that the guitar parts aren't very difficult (from the perspective of someone who plays on expert and has beaten Guitar Hero 3 and World Tour). The bass and vocal parts are great, however. I don't have the drums.
It has a acceptable achievement system and some good challenges. For instance, beating the game in a day. All in all, the best band themed guitar game I have played.
I tried Beatles Rock Band at home before I brought it to my nephews' house. The pictures of the Beatles in different environments were as good as they can be. I loved the music and of course for me that was the best part. Unfortunately when my nephews, ages 6, 9, and 12, played we only had 1 guitar and 2 mics. That didn't matter to them. They absolutely LOVED the music and the game. Other kids who were at their house sang in the background. In the past when the kids tried Guitar Hero, they found it far too difficult to play. They didn't have the same issues with Rock Band. Parents came down later and attempted singing to the Beatles. Everyone had a GREAT time. It was fun to see kids engaged in a cooperative game.
My major issue with Rock Band is that if you don't already know the songs, it is very difficult to read the miniature words on the screen. That is unfortunate. This may not matter to kids, but to anyone over 35, it is difficult. I hope that the producers of the game find a remedy for this to attack an older as well as a younger audience.
I would love to see discs of Rock Band music from the 50's, 60's and 70's with larger words on the screen.
Thumbs up to Rock Band Beatles. Beatles music is the real attraction of the game.Read full review
I bought this as a b-day present for my boyfriend who is any old soul and loves the Beatles. He really likes this game so far. The only thing he has said is the easy, med, hard difficulty doesn't seem to be comparable to other rock band games. The kids seem to like it to even though they said we must be old because they didn't know any of the songs as they were singing along to them. All in all a great buy that has brought lots of family fun.
