Of all the digital cameras I've checked out, the Samsung S630 is one of the easiest to use, comfortable to hold camera that fits in your pocket ready to use in most circumstances. My main priority was finding a camera that was easy to hang on to without accidentally touching buttons or controls changing settings or functions, and the Samsung S630 fit the bill. With the wrap around front 'bump out' with rubber insert for finger grip, and the recessed thumb indent on the back, it's a breeze to hang on to whether shooting straight ahead as usual or holding overhead for shooting over crowds or holding in awkward positions taking pictures in cramped quarters in & under the car or around corners in crowded storage buildings, etc. Firm grip and still little or no danger of accidentally changing the settings. Most other digital cameras I've looked at before and since buying this one have too many small buttons and/or have them in the wrong place making them difficult to hold on to without altering the settings. Only downfalls or minor problems are occasionally rolling the 'thumb control wheel' to a different mode when pulling out of pocket to use, and the inherent delay between shots that most digital cameras suffer from. For Instant shots of moving targets, it's still hard to beat a good 35MM point & shoot camera, but for most other shots it is a very good camera that's easy to use.Read full review
I have used this camera a few times now. It is easy, at least the part I can figure out. The seller was kind enough to include the links to print out the instruction booklet, other reviews, and a website for the camera company. That will be a great help, when I can take the time to check them out. The instruction book is 120 pages long. Even without the detailed instructions, I have been able to take over 100 pictures. They seem clear enough, at least on the camera. I have not had any printed out yet, nor made a DVD, but I will when I take some more pics. The only drawback is that the camera takes batteries, which could be a good thing if you carry extra batteries. I can tell that my batteries are getting low because there is a long hesitation between the time I try to take the picture and it actually takes the picture. When the batteries are fresh, there is no hesitation. At least that gives me a warning to change the batteries. Over all, I would rate this camera as good. DMTRead full review
Good basic camera. Felt a bit low end compared to Sony or Casio I also purchased but still not too bad. I purchased this camera on Ebay for just $10. Reason it was that low was because the flash was not working. A Google search indicated that this camera had an issue with the flash not working if the camera was dropped. I decided to open the camera to see what I could do to repair it and found that due to the impact of being dropped the capacitor connections for the flash (looks like an internal AAA battery soldered to a circuit board) broke off. I was able to make the repair with a soldering iron and solder. I was successful and the camera actually works fine but having been inside the camera and seeing how it was designed I'm not at all surprised that this was a fairly common issue with this camera. Other than that though it seems like a good camera. Takes great pictures and is very simple to use. That it uses AA batteries is something I really like about it. I found though that using alkaline batteries in digital cameras is absolutely the wrong way to go as it tears through alkaline batteries like there's no tomorrow. Use rechargeable AA batteries instead. You'll be absolutely impressed.Read full review
The Samsung S-630 is a very easy to use compact point and shoot camera. The layout of the buttons and menus is very clear and uncluttered. The manual mode allows for control over f-stop, shutter speed, ISO, flash, white balance, as well as image size and quality. The main drawback of the camera is its short battery life. The camera has no viewfinder; it only has an LCD screen, which drains the battery rather quickly.
I bought this Samsung S630 6.0 Megapixel camera for my mom. The interface is quite friendly. Images' quality is good. Video is also good, you can record it with sound. Another advantage - the ability to use interchangeable batteries.
