Verbatim is still the top brand to buy (in most cases) except the media produced by CMC Magnetics. These disks I just bought were made by CMC and it is quite easy to see the quality difference. CMC Mag media is not recommended for long term storage but are good for movie backups for everyday use.

Will never buy Verbatim "Life Series" blank DVD's again. They cannot be read from after being written to, either on a PC, or on a set-top DVD-R. According to many opinions on the Web, all of these discs are just plain defective from the factory.
