  • easy to handle and light weight

I was skeptical about purchasing a battery powered chain saw because I was concerned about the battery won't have enough juice to do multiple cuttings . I had a gas powered chain saw for over 10 years it worked well until recently it started to stall and difficult starting , so I decided to purchase the Milwaukee 16" electric chain saw.I was surprised , it's little over 10 pounds, easy to handle, I used it to cut 4" to 8" tree branches, it cuts very well, it's almost maintenance free, only requires bar and chain oil. What I like the most are : it is quieter than gas powered, no mixing gas and 2 cycle oil, no smelly smoke, don't need to pull stgring to start the engine. Also, the M18 battery fits other Milwaukee power tools I have. It's a great saw!

  • Great for the home owner

Powerful for an electric saw, battery life seems to be good for an afternoons work. Charges fast, which is helpful. I don't use chain saws a lot, so it made sense to buy something that if it were not runn for a long period of time, it wouldn't break down, or be hard to start. I can store this saw for a while and worry about fuel problems next time I need it. It handles, and balances well, and cuts as fast as any gas powered saw I've ever operated. I like it.

  • Great saw for the money

This saw had more power than I was expecting. I was able to buck up about a cord of wood on 4-6AH battery charges with no issues. Its so much quieter than a combustion powered saw! I did have one occasion where the battery overheated, but at least the batteries know to stop producing! No more messing with fuel, choke, cords - or wearing your arm out trying to get to work. This is the way to go for anyone looking for a saw that won't be in use all day every day.

  • Pro quality and very handy

I really like the saw for being a retired logger. It's amazing what an battery powered saw can do and I am a big fan of Milwaukie tools. I gave it 4-star because when cutting small brush (finger size) you must keep the chain tight to keep it from flying off. The chain takes a little work to get back on even for me. A roller wheel on the drive spocket like Stihl gas saws might help fix the problem. Is this option doable ? Otherwise keep a bar wrench with you and keep chain tight like when you got it. Roger

  • Well balanced instrument !

The saw is easy to use, light weight, powerful and quiet. I can use it early, mid or late day without waking the neighbors or starting fires. I use it for limbing and thinning. Mostly doug fir and alder up to 8" dia. It'll use 2 bars of charge in an 1-1/2 hours work , more cleanup time than saw time. The 12 amp is my go to but it works with my 5's surprisingly well. I keep the oiler level up and pack a screw driver to access the bar tool. The chain needs periodic adjustment. I store the saw on its side, bar up, so the oiler went leak. I am pleased with the saw and have recommended it to others.

  • Well designed, works well even on big trees.

Quite powerful for only 18 volts. VERY lightweight. Good design of the chain tensioner - no need to completely remove the cover, just loosen the bolts a little and turn the post, then re-tighten. Only negatives so far: 1) Wish it came in an 18 or 20 inch bar length 2) The wrench/screwdriver cannot be removed for use without using a screwdriver or other tool. This is good, because it won't fall out; but annoying to have to use a tool to get to a tool. Very happy with my purchase.

  • Nicely performing chainsaw - - Did not dissappoint

This chain saw does not disappoint! It is made well, cuts well, and ready to get straight to work without the headaches of gas operated saws. It is a bit pricey, and if it lasts a long time will be worth the price. I’ve used it several times now and pleased with performance!

  • Milwaukee chainsaw is a game changer

The Milwaukee 18" chainsaw works far better than I expected. Well designed and perfectly balanced. And has all the power to tackle on 10" trees! You can't stall this machine. The days of mixing oil, dripping gasoline, high maintenance cost, wearing ear protection vanished thanks to Milwaukee..

  • Good quality and reliable.

The saw works smoothly with variable speed. Cuts a narrow kerf. Keeps sharp for a long time. Powerful for electric. Heavier than a small gas saw. Safer than a gas saw. No pull cord to start. Best for many small limbs. Will cut big ones but uses more battery. I would like it smaller, lighter and a shorter 10-12"bar length.

  • Good for occasional use, not for a lumberjack.

Good if you don't use a chainsaw often, and you're not cutting down big trees. I use a chainsaw maybe once every couple years, cutting up fallen or dead branches. With a gas chainsaw I usually spend more time trying to start it and cleaning the carburetor than I do using it.
