Let me preface this by saying up front that I am a big time Sinatra fan. I often wondered why the Sinatra-Jobim 1969 (tracks 11-20) album was never released and now I know why. It's terrible, and Sinatra was the one who killed the release of this - and rightfully so. The 1967 album with Sinatra and Jobim is like the Mona Lisa - exquisite and flawless, so trying to match or better the '67 album was impossible. The sad thing about the '69 album is that Sinatra's voice was in excellent shape, as opposed to some albums in which his voice sounds creaky, tired, and weary. The liner notes by Stan Cornyn on this release are excellent by the way. I am only recommending this because it is a Sinatra compilation.

Wonderful assembly of Sinatra/Jobim. Great liner noted that includes a story of the cover change. Seller's packaging was excellent.

The great tunes in this recording deserve better. Evidently Bobby Sox Frank was either tired or hung over during the entire session. Perhaps he did not know that a "Jazz Samba" is a dance. Mr. S dragged his way through the album so routinely that I dare not play it while driving for fear of dozing off. Other than that .......................

Sinatra and Jobim, an incomparably great duo whose collaboration resulted in what I consider the greatest blend of American pop and Brazilian jazz.
