Useful catalog, but take the values with a grain of salt
It is a good comprehensive listing of US stamps and other philatelic related items, and does give fairly accurate relative values, but not so good on absolute values. In other words, you can generally spot the scarcer items, but the actual prices listed may be way off. For example, in Souvenir Cards [my specialty] they list B3 - "Fresno Fair" - at $250. I have seen nice examples of this card go unsold on eBay at $29. Several other high priced cards are similarly way over-valued, but on medium priced items, they are closer to true market value. Despite its faults, it is still a useful book to have. I bought this year old copy at just over half the price of the latest edition; prices don't change that much year to year in Brookman, so I considered that a good value.
