Heavy duty industrial cable ties, sometimes called zip ties, allow you to bundle and organize a variety of objects securely. Cable ties come in different configurations from companies such as Panduit and Warner and Betts. These cable ties are made from materials including wire, nylon, and stainless steel with each type having benefits depending on what you need to mount.

While all cable ties are designed to secure loads, some materials have other features that you may find useful. The material of tie you should use will depend on the intended purpose. However, there are a few guidelines you can keep in mind when making your cable tie choice. Some options include:

• Nylon: Nylon ties are lightweight and come in various lengths and diameters of cable. These ties are quite versatile, coming in a range of colours, sizes, and different tensile strengths. Nylon cable ties function in a relatively normal range of temperatures, and you can use nylon cables to mount loads of various weights.
• Stainless teel: You may need stainless steel cable ties if you are dealing with liquids, extreme temperatures, or both. Steel zip ties typically secure loads of up to 100-pounds. Thanks to the properties of steel, they also have a wide temperature range that goes from below 0- 1000-degrees Fahrenheit.
• Tefzel: These straps have a range of tensile strengths depending on the size of the particular cable you choose. They are aqua in colour and are a good choice if you need a durable tie that is resistant to a variety of environmental hazards.

Different cable ties have special features to perform different operations. The features in your cable ties will depend on the application for which you need the cables or the objects you need to tie.

• Black or white network cable ties are typically long, thin and made of nylon or plastic. This structure allows the ties to accommodate several wires or cords at once. In turn, this feature makes the cables useful for categorizing and organizing the wires associated with your computer and other electronic devices.
• If you need to attach bundles of cables, consider mounted-head cable ties. These ties have holes to accept screws or in some cases, wire, allowing you to use mounts to place the cables on other surfaces to make bundling easier.
• Should you need to put up some ties quickly, similar versions include adhesive cable ties with clip mounts.
• While many cable ties are meant for a permanent hold, some ties are releasable, allowing you to reuse them as needed.
• Different versions of these cables often feature a steel locking ring of stainless metal that keeps the tie closed and securely in place.
