I recently bought my third WD Elements drive (which is pictured above). I used my first drive for everything the past two years. Now I am using the other two for my video editing, which requires lots of hard drive space. I have the highest regard for WD Elements USB hard drive..

The size, physical size! The size does not take up hardly any space on my desktop,I do not like the fact I mist plug it into an AC outlet. I can not compare it to anything but my Iomega 500gb external HDD, it has a internal power source Crome the USB connection. As for storage, everything in my Iomega went inside and you can't hardly see the little blue line(downloaded) content.
WORKS GREAT AS MY BACKUP "CLOUD" HDD using microsoft ntbackup.exe - how simple can it get ! since my pc is only capable of supporting usb v2.0 and HD 2tb or smaller, this really fits my needs.. one strange feature is the location of the white activity light which, for some reason, is visible only from the back of the device.. why WD did this is a profound mystery, but at least i can see something blinking during backups.. thanks again for fast shipping, good packaging, etc. p.s. the setup almost failed because it was originally formatted with GPT and i needed MBR.. this was solved by using an older command line program called "PARTMGR" which was able to remove ALL formatting and allowed XP DiskMgr to completely start over.. IT LITERALLY SAVED THE DAY !
Nice unit (size wise). Backups are slow but it might be the USB 2.0 interface or my software. Regardless, I start my backup at midnight and check the status the next morning. No failures so far.
SOME WEAR AND TEAR, COULD HAVE SUPPLIED POWER AND USB CORD, OLDER MODEL PRICE COULD BE MORE REASONABLE
