I had previously lost the Sony charger to my DSC-W290. Ordered an off brand replacement charger that came with an off brand battery. Used that battery LESS THAN A YEAR, (charger still working fine) and the camera came on and gave me an error about the battery. I still had the original Sony battery that came with the camera when it was new, still worked PERFECTLY. So...I decided to order another SONY brand battery for my backup battery in order to have one ready at all times. It only took 12 days to ship from China to Alabama! Came with 3/4 charge, so I plugged it in the camera, and sure enough, worked like a charm, AS IT SHOULD! Do yourself a favor, if you own a Sony device, try to stick with Sony replacement products for it! It will save you some headache!

Batteries charged up very good. They barely fit my camera. It seems the case is a very small fraction larger than the SONY battery. I'm having to slowly sand the excess down in order for it to extract from the camera. Out of the package, they will go into the bay and work, however, getting them out requires some thinking to get it to come out. So taking a few micro-millimeters off the case is needed. My camera is a Sony DSC-S50. They may fit a DSC-S55 better, but since I don't have that one, I could not say.

Based on our old sony battery (original) it is still in decent shape after at least 10 years and is still working fairly well today. A cheap generic replacement be bought as a spare 5 years ago does not hold a good charge and has been discarded (recycled). Assuming the new battery is as good as the original, it will do a good job with time. It will be my main battery with the old sony battery being a decent spare

It was fine at first but there's reliability problem with battery. My Sony camera doesn't always recognize the battery as a genuine Sony battery. I'm an electronic engineer and to analyze the problem, I brought the batteries to my electronics lab and opened the battery tops. I found a miniature electronic circuit, that the camera detects and it had a broken solder connection. It appears that there is a product reliability problem where during the battery assembly process, the electronic circuit can be damaged.
