Solid Piece of the drivetrain puzzle
I bought this to clean up the shifting on my older 10 speed mountain bike. I originally had a Sram x7 shifter an the shifting was okay but not good enough to put my mind at ease. For thirty something bucks I had a clean new shifter that matches the rear derraileur (both Sram GX 10 speed now) with a brand new cable to boot. I use this combination with a Sram PG 1070 chain ( a 1050 would also work fine but I got a good deal on the 1070) and a Sunrace MX3 11-40T cassette in a 1x setup with a 30T narrow wide chainring in front. For my Power to weight ratio, this gets the job done most of the time but there have been plenty of times I wish for more range!

Excellent way to get into 1X without the high cost
The GX line of components from SRAM has made 1X affordable. But that doesn't mean it's lower performance. Many have resorted to converting traditional 2X or 3X components into 1X to avoid the high dollar cost of XX1 or Shimano equivalents. But the GX components have many of the same functions as the higher end component groups in the lineup but without the big price tag. This trigger shifter doesn't have the carbon thumb paddles but feels and functions identical to the other shifters in the higher end lineups.

GX Line is not very high quality
I got this SRAM GX shifter and a GX red derailleur to replace a worn out SRAM X-7 unit, thinking they were of the same quality. The GX is MUCH lower quality and not nearly as well made as the X-7 model line. I’m thinking my derailleur might have been defective, too, since it wore out in only 8 months. Very disappointed in the GX line.
