Fastest? No. Enough to pin the meter? Quite possibly.
I installed this in a netbook with a SATA I interface, which many older laptops remain saddled with, but first I tested it in a desktop with SATA III. This drive had read speeds about 80% of those of the normal drive in the system (a Samsung 840 EVO, which is one of the fastest consumer-level drives) but the write speeds weren't even close. They were, however, still above 100 MB/s. They just weren't 400-450 MB/s like the 840 EVO. When installed in the target system, the read speeds fall off to about 105 MB/s, and the writes to about 80 MB/s, because of the SATA I connection. Thus, while I could have bought a faster drive, it wouldn't have done a damn bit of good in this particular application. tl;dr: For an older system with SATA I, this drive will work as well as anything ever will.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
