I am a great Anne Rice fan, I have read almost all of her work, and I am trying to get rid of that almost. The Mummy is an interresting tale, I have only just gotten to the meat of the story just yet, but felt it would be prudent to give a review when I am unable to give away the story, as I am prone to doing. The mummy of Ramses the Great is discovered, and there is a tangible feeling of emenant doom accompanying his awakening. I can hardly wait for the next chapter! A big surprise hits you very shortly in, less than 40 pages. It is something I honestly did not forsee and caught me totally by surprise! This is coming from an avid Rice reader, having read the Vampire Chronicles and the Mayfair stories. I reccommend these books to anyone who enjoys a good read, young or old it will awaken your blood. My rating of "Good" as opposed to "Excellent" is because I have not yet finished the book, and I do not want to claim something the book may or may not deliver. I must say, I was sadly disappointed by Pandora, which I had looked forward to reading for quite some time. I know I am enjoying this tale of artifacts and ancient power, and sincerely hope that I will not be let down. It has a totally different feel to it than that of Pandora, so I think I will be happily surprised by whatver lay in store for me.Read full review
I HAVE SEEN ALOT OF REVIEWS HERE & ONE OF THE MAIN ONES SAYS "Azriel, a genie" HE IS NOT A GENIE HE WAS A VERY SAD SPIRIT WHO WAS TRICKED INTO BECOMMING A SPIRIT SERVANT TO WHO EVER HAD THE BONES..HE ALWAYS HAD A LOVING HEART BUT HAD TO DO BAD THINGS FOR THE ONES HE CALLED HIS MASTERS, IN THE END HE GAINS HIS FEEDOM AND GOES OUT TO TRY TO DO AS MUCH GOOD FOR THE WORLD AS HE CAN, IT IS A LONG JOURNY FOR HIM..I READ THE BOOK & LISTENED TO THE AUDIO BOOK & ON AUDIO HE REALLY WAS FANTASTIC TO LISTEN TO I GOT SO MUCH MORE OUT OF IT AFTER THAT & LOL READ THE BOOK AGAIN !!
The previous review below is not about the book ''servent of the bones'' its about a book called ''the mummy''. I am reviewing ''servent of the bones''. That book is a beautiful work delicate and brutal. Happy and sad. The sub plot about the preacher ending the world is not necessary to the story but is interesting. I found the servent to be totally moving and interesting as he tells his story. I was elated when he ''won'' his freedom from the bones. I am truly sorry Rice did not write another book with this princpal subject.
Made a great present for my wife Deborah
