I purchased this camera for vacation and used it for the first time on this vacation. It was very easy to get used to all the capabilities this camera has. The on screen menus are displayed well and mannuvering around them is easy. It took a little practice getting used to using the telephoto lens and dealing with keeping the camera steady, but the built in image stabilizer helped a lot. The camera performed very well and took excellent pictures. The picture quality upon printing them out, was excellent, with vibrant colors. Overall this camera was an excellent value and should be considered if you don't want to spend a lot of money but still get a feature latent camera that delivers ease of operation and life like pictures.
I bought this to replace an older powershot IS with 12 megapixels and a 6x zoom. That camera was excellent although I always wanted a little more zoom. The image stabilization on that camera was excellent, and one reason why I stayed with the canon product. This camera however... the stabilization is questionable at best. I did read a review that had this exact comment, but I bought it anyway. I hope it is just something I will get used to. The beauty of Digital cameras is you can just keep taking them til you get a good one and delete the bad ones. Remember when you paid to see how bad they were on film...

I lost my previous camera and bought this one to replace it. It takes great pictures, easy to use and absolutely love the grid lines in the view finder - makes it so easy to select the zoom and center what you want to take a picture of. I know the cell phones have cameras built in, but the quality of the pictures and the ability to adjust the zoom makes it worthwhile to carry both to special events.

I would have given this camera the full 5 stars if it weren't for a few things that bothered me. 1) Why switch the way the batteries load? 2) Why switch the delete button on the back? 3) Why are there purple/pink balls around bright lights, especially the sun (that wasn't an issue with the SX130 I had)? 4) Why is there a purple-tinted area in a lot of my photos when taking sunset shots? This line also still needs improvement on low-light photography - refuses to focus and very grainy. As for improvements, the macro works far better than the 130, much sharper images. And the added features such as Super Vivid, Fish Eye, Toy Camera Effect, etc...are cool effects to play with! Overall, I gave this a 4/5.
Great crystal clear photos from this camera! Many & great features that can be used and changed for anywhere from the beginner to a more seasoned/professional photographer. Very simple to use, and there is even a setting where you can have the camera explain what each setting is for and how it is to be used, so for beginners it basically tells you what setting is best for what kind of photo you want to take and guides you through different steps to go up through the levels to become a more seasoned photographer! Very good camera, but the only issue and drawback is with the flash, it takes kinda long for the flash to recharge to take another photo! Otherwise if you know your way around a camera and the different settings and know what some of the terms and settings mean, you can get great looking photos on a different setting without the flash, and still have a well lit photo in a low light situation!Read full review
