  • Item as described.

As an entry level survival knife it would seem to be fairly well made. Like all cheaper knives it has certain limitations a more expensive steel does not have. It has low lateral stress due to metal used and tip thickness. Basically don't pull sideways with the tip in wood or will break off the tip. Would not use it as a throwing knife for this reason. Would likely serve you well for food prepping and cutting rope and such when in the field. Would seem to be relatively easy to sharpen and maintain the sharpness fairly well. Suggest researching things before you buy. The warranties implied do not apply to knives purchased on eBay I was told by manufacturer.

  • My experience with Cold Steel.

I've been a consumer of Cold Steel products for many years. Couple of swords, some fixed blades, some folders, FGX products even a blow gun. In every purchase I received a quality item at a fair price. I could have paid less but rarely would I have gotten a better deal. I could have paid more, but honestly everything I have gotten from them has been overbuilt for it's intended use. They do this in such a way that it does not hinder either use or carry. Pretty smart, and maybe I am lucky but they've all been sharpened for use, axes had axe edges (sharp but steep angled) and pocket slicers would clip hairs. So there's fit in the hand, very important. I think Ontario and Esee are comparable competitors on fixed blades, both great companies but I prefer the ergonomics of Cold Steel and definitely sheath designs over Ontario. I'm from Missouri, to sum it up y'all know where I'm going "Show Me" a better product for the same money.

  • Great knife

I have used the old carbon v for years..so far this sk5 steel is ok but I have only used it for a week or so. The grip is great in wet and cold..this knife works well for deer..especially if you have arthritic hands..only time will tell if this will live up to the old carbon v quality but for under $40 it is a bargain..highly recommended..fast shipping a bonus!!!

  • Hope to keep this for at least 40 years

Sheath is top notch, knife balance feels wierd. Handle is light. Handle is grippy but looks cheap. Would like thumb knotches. Good useful legnth, but not sword long. Good compromise between grizzly bear fighting and daily use. Wish it was made in america. I reccomend it.

  • Pure beef srk !!!!

Indestructible blade. Razor sharp. Easy to sharpen. Holds a great edge. Tempering and annealing are perfect. No chipping of blade. Forget the naysayers, their jealous. Cold steel-hard use knives. The originator of hard use and tactical knives. Get one now, while you still can. 48 $- what a bargain.

  • Texas-legal SRK.

In addition to the fact that this knife is legal to carry in Texas (5" single-edged blade), the blade is high quality carbon steel, the handle is comfortable, the blade doesn't possess a certain competitor's big belly while still being fully functional with a good point on the end, and it arrives sharp. The sheath locks the knife in on the hilt and single quillon, and is hard. The sheath is reversible; being left-handed, I appreciate that, but as I favor the river boat gambler's hold, will keep it right-handed. This sheath has multiple mounting options; conversely, a single-mag pouch containing a Victorinox with a saw blade, a diamond stone, and firestarter can be mounted to it. My only complaint is the belt loop. Too soft, allowing flopping around. Worse, if the blade is required in a hurry, the sheath will rise several inches before the hilt is released. (As I used to do some leatherworking, this individual sheath will be resolved to my tastes.) Overall, an excellent tool that's a part of the user's hand. Although I won't routinely carry this knife, it's part of my emergency kit, and will be legal-carry if things go bad.

  • Looking for a big boot knife...look no further. Thin, light, sharp, with a great sheath.

I have several Cold Steel fixed blade knives, and I like them all, from my old trusty old USA made SRK in Carbon V, a Master Hunter in 3V, an Outdoorsman Lite made with 4034 steel, and now this Kobun made out of AUS 8A steel. The Outdoorsman and the Kobun are both made in Taiwan, where they do a fantastic job with the heat treating, so you can expect the best from any of the steels used. AUS 8A is well known for being tough, easy to maintain and sharpen, with reasonable edge retention. While not a huge tanto blade fan, I really like this knife. It came very sharp with a really well done hollow ground blade that's just the right length, on the thin side in keeping with the thin grippy rubber handle and the compact sheath, which deserves special note, as it is totally awesome for a knife in this price range. The Secure-Ex sheath holds the knife securely, then pops it free with just the right thumb pressure for easy access with no fear of the knife coming out when not intended. It has a sturdy springy metal belt clip that's easy to attach and hold well. A super value if you're looking for a really light weight, kind of long bladed boot-knife style package that handles well, and feels like you could depend on it. A five star plus knife for this kind of price.

  • Cold Steel products are rock solid

Honestly, I haven't even been home to look at it yet. But, I don't have to. It's Cold Steel. It's just one of those brands I would trust with my life. I have had these before, I would have paid twice the price.

  • Good value

Arrived quickly, nice knife for the price. Most people cannot afford a custom knife. This is a really good "tactical" type knife at a good price.

  • SRK Cold steel knives.

Almost all Cold steel products are top shelf. This can be said also for the SRK. Every worthy young man when he turns 10 years old should receive an SRK on his birthday.
