Appears to work okay, but with some issues.
My only qualm is that I also purchased a solar charger for the Ring, but the charger does not seem to charge the battery. The device health displays that the Ring is not connected to a solar charger. Good product, but ...
Installation instructions were good and easy to follow. Had difficulty connecting to the home wi-fi and so upgraded the router to a better one and this seemed to fix the problem. After a few days of use the battery stopped charging even though it was hardwired to the home door bell. After talking to the RIng support and resetting the unit, it seemed to fix the problem. A couple of weeks of use, it reported that the wi-fi signal was weak and soon after the battery level started dropping. Then a few days later, everything was OK and the battery was up to 100%. Get a RING 2 not a 2nd gen.
This is a great product and does everything you want it to do. Can be used wireless or hardwired to your existing door bell. HOWEVER, you should know to charge the battery you have to remove in from the house. The recharging micro USB is on the back of the unit. Great quality, setup madness
Unfortunately I can only give it a 3 star rating even though the quality of the unit is quite good and it works exactly how it's supposed to, but the setup process is perfectly unclear and in my case very frustrating. The real challenge for me (and I think for many others) is getting the video doorbell to connect to your existing wifi, get your account set up, manage your way through the myriad of options then finally get the thing working. RING a ling ling!
I recently purchased a RING 1 and I noticed that certain features such as charging the unit was so much different than the RING 2. I don’t have to take the unit apart to charge it, the port is on the bottom. My neighbors have the 2 and the settings are different. I will give my RING 1 to one of my friends because they just want a unit. Great deal on a video doorbell!
I was a little confused, but after purchasing this I talked to Ring Customer service, and the only real difference between the Ring 2 and the Ring Second generation, is the Ring 2 has a removable doorbell and the second generation doesn't. The cameras are the same, and CS also informed me the PRO version is only cosmetic; it has the same camera as well. I needed to buy a wifi booster because at 25+ ft from the router, the signal is too weak for the doorbell to work properly, although it does work, it just is a little slow and skips in the video sometimes. This is a great value for a Ring Video Doorbell, you can't beat the price! PS. You will also need a min. 16V/30A-hr transformer for this to work, and if you don't have a doorbell attached, you will need a 50 Watt 25 Ohm Wirewound Resistor.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
