Playing through the story of the feature film and including additional, original scenes, the video game version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a mission-driven action-adventure with lots of combat. Players control the mutant who will become Wolverine from a third-person perspective. The fighting interface is based on light, heavy, and grapple attacks, with improvised combos and sharp finishing moves. As he fights, Wolverine builds rage, which allows more powerful attacks. The agile hero can also perform a lunge attack, leaping with his claws extended toward an enemy. Wolverine's feral senses give him enhanced surveillance capabilities. When he is hit, his wounds appear and heal quickly, distinguishing his mutant regenerative abilities. Throughout the adventure, Wolverine encounters other characters with related origin stories, including those who would be known as Sabretooth, Wendigo, Blob, and Gambit. X-Men Origins: Wolverine was created by Raven Software, the studio behind Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and the X-Men: Legends games.
I decided to purchase this game because i had heard good things about it from friends. I am very happy with the game, it has its weak spots but overall it is a great game. I disliked a few things, one of my biggest upsets was that the enemies were constantly recycled and should have shown a tad more variety. The game is brutal and very mature. Blood splatters, enemies are dismembered and torn apart. This is not your no claws using wolverine. From the moment i started I could not put the controllers down. It is tons of fun to use wolverine in the way he was intended to be used, and that is like an animal. Shredding through enemies and slaying them in a ton of different ways is a blast. I highly recommend picking this one up and enjoying the ride.
This game really makes you feel like Wolverine, actually you feel like Wolverine unleashed! Its a hack and slash game with tons of new combos to learn through the game. Gameplay is compelling and addicting. Story follows the Origins movie with a few add-ons of the Weapon X comic book. Soundtrack is just okay but the amazing gameplay and story are enough to keep you hooked throughout the whole game. A truly hidden gem. 9/10. If you like Wolverine or hack and slash games just buy it!
This game is pretty one dimensional but fun as heck. I have always been a fan of these button masher brawling type of games. This game, is superb in that genre however it does feel a little linear at times. The fighting is rather fluid however there are still a few issues here and there with some of the finer control details, like rolling, etc.
Overall though I highly recommend this game for fans of the genre. But if you are the type that demands a detailed story over fun game playing this game may not be for you.
I had a really good time playing this game. I enjoy marvel characters and wolverine is awesome.
The game play is fun. Moves are limited and get a little repetitive. The upgrades are so so. The harder modes do pose limited challenge. Achievements come easy except for the dog tags. Please play the game before following any guides for collectables. There are so many tags you will ruin the game play trying to follow it.
Overall a must play.
