  • A mid-range, mid-quality slide scanner that scans large quantities of slides well enough

The item arrived as described, well packed and in a timely fashion. Kudos to the seller. They were up front about what they were selling and easy to work with. The scanner does what it is intended to do in an adequate manner once you've also bought decent software to run it on. I purchased VueScan software separately. Resolution is ok. Focus is ok. Colors are ok. I wouldn't go so far as to call any of them "good", but they are adequate and that is what the scanner is designed to provide. The machines ability to batch/bulk process a large quantity of slides (50-100) at a time once you have set it up and to do it with minimal supervision once the scanning has started, is exceptional. Be ready to put in fair amount of trial and error experimenting in order to start getting usable results. It takes time, patience and lots of internet searching to work through the machines learning curve and begin to get into a reasonable, efficient workflow. Once you get it rolling, it cranks through the slides methodically. A very quirky older slide scanner. It's no Nikon 9000, but for my purposes it met my needs at a price that was affordable for me and my inherited collection of nearly 10,000 slides.

  • Great automation - - for a narrow niche of users

This scanner did exactly what I wanted, with excellent resolution and fair image rendition The Autoscan left a bit to be desired - not really doing a great job on underexposed slides But Nothing that couldn't be fixed in a minute or 2 working with a TIFF in post processing Some have suggested using another scanner software package with this scanner - - And as long as you have TWAIN capability, you'll be fine. I couldn't get this device to work with Win-10 via my USB-3 ports, but no problem with USB-2 It ONLY eats 2x2" slides, and may miss a slide or 2 if they are too THIN - - But I only missed about 5 slides out of 300 - - so not too bad. Before installation, I did download the CURRENT version of the software from Pacific Image And did NOT need to use ANYTHING off the enclosed CD-ROM. I have a full suite of image processing software, and scanned the slides at low resolution 2500 DPI to TIFF (producing 22MB TIFF images) - will convert to JPG once happy with them This will NOT scan negative strips, or anything other than 35mm slides (Negative or Positive) BUT - - if THAT is what you have in your Archive - - THIS thing CAN'T be beat !! Load it, set it, forget it. Come back 2 hours later and the 50 slides are on your HDD. Nice !!

  • When it works, it works well.

I have been restarting the scanner and software for days now and all it says is initializing the scanner please wait. I have restarted my computer numerous time hoping that would correct the problem. When using the fifty slide tray it doesn't read the first slide and last slide. You can adjust the resolution to your preference. I suggest watching a YouTube video because the guide booklet that comes with the scanner was not clear to me. I have gone to their website for frequently asked questions and there doesn't seem to be much help. Also I was not able to upgrade the firmware because the links are out of date. As I said, when the scanner is working, it works well.

  • Our slides to digitals

Product exceeds expectations. Photo rendition is of high quality and clarity. I was pleasantly surprised because of past bad experiences with products claiming to provide true reproductions. I found the software accompanying this product cumbersome. The user's manual did not accurately reflect the process, thus installing the program was by considerable trial and error. In fact I had a computer expert do the installation. On four occasions the slides have "jammed" and I had an extremely difficult time getting them out of the machine. There was no troubleshooting instructions with the user's manual as how to "unjam" the slides. Also, I was not able to use the current Photoshop Elements 13 and needed to revert to Photoshop Elements 12. Thankfully that disc was provided by the seller.

  • Pleased with this slide scanner

The quality of the scanned slides is awesome so awesome that you have to really clean the film and get all the dust off before scanning. The setup is super easy, in fact, all easy we couldn't believe that it would work -- mainly because we could figure out how it would work before seeing it in action. The machine has a weird mechanism for advancing the slide tray that is hard to visualize before you see it in action So just fill the slide tray and position it in the slot by pushing it flat up against a small aluminum bar and the thing takes it from there. But be very patient. The device does a lot of calibration before it actually starts to move. The manual could be a lot better. I won't know how robust the mechanism is until I have had the chance to run the machine through many more cycles.

  • Great Product with a learning curve

I do a lot of scanning. The power glide works great but there are a few things you’ll have to learn, how to load it, to check to see if all the slides got done - you might have to do a few over. But for bulk scanning it’s way faster than anything else. The software is a bit rough and scanners do not seem to work at the same time - I have 7 different media scanners and I run them all one at a time. But it’s so much handier than doing 4 slides at a time manually with the cheap scanners. Takes about an hour to do 50 but you can walk away.

  • Good product, tough instructions

I enjoy the scanner I think it does a great job. Unfortunately the setting instructions are tough to start with, but I found a step by step video on youtube. One thing I don't understand is why they don't manufacture a round carousel to sell with the unit as an option. While the unit does accept a slide carousel from a another manufacture, those carousel are like trying to find the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

  • Awesome, but slow

Slow as Molasses on Christmas Day. But, if you are using the Epson (or any) flatbed scanner - this is a vast improvement.
