Works as advertised.....but....
I am using oem retainers on a Ford FE head. The design of this tool is such that the cap will bottom out in mic and not allow you to get a reading. I turned it over and it works okay but no way to get both locks in to check installed height. If you did get both wedged in you would never be able to get apart as again design of tool won't allow retainer to go far enough down to get cap out from around locks. I don't think you will have any issues using one lock to check as long as you take your time and keep retainer level with one hand and tighten mic up with other hand. Still much easier than a ruler and snap gauge.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Just buy a better name brand tool if you’re going to use this at all
Not accurate at all, for the price I expected better. It’s .030 off. I can accommodate for that but it’s annoying. Beyond that, it says it works on most V8s, but will not work on a set of dart SBC heads. The bottom section is too big in diameter to fit in the spring pocket, and the top is too small to fit the retainer. Small block Chevys ARE most v8s.
