  • Fair for a beginner

Good: It's easy to use and has a fairly large screen. The image quality, on the screen at least, seemed fine. It's aesthetically pleasing. Bad: It has a 40X optical zoom but doesn't focus in on small objects. It doesn't have a viewfinder so you always have to use the display screen which uses up more battery power. This also makes it more difficult to take pictures outdoors on sunny days. The screen slides up and down. This is better than some cameras, but it doesn't turn inward to protect the screen. Conclusion: There is very little advantage to this camera over a pocket camera the size of a pack of cigarettes. The optical zoom (as long as you're nit taking tight shots) and the look and feel of the body are the only real benefits. Full disclosure: I ended up returning this item.

  • Good camera, good value, great telephoto feature,. but lack of a view finder tough top use., Sorry not for me.

This would be a perfect camera for me were it not for the lack of a view finder. To try and compose the picture while holding the camera way from the body and trying to hold it still is quite a challenge. Just trying to find the subject in the LCD screen is also a challenge. That aside, the pictures were sharp and clear. The zoom lens at 40X was quite good in bringing the subject close. But unless you wrap the strap around your neck and pull taught on it, taking a picture with steady hands is not something most seniors can or would want to do.
