  • Great Sound When it Worked

When one purchases a vintage stereo receiver, one must be aware that unless the receiver was recently serviced, there is a good chance that capacitors and other electronic components may need replacing. Capacitors generally last 20 to 22 years, irregardless of whether or not the receiver has been turned on or left turned off. This Nakamichi has terrific sound quality, but after two days of using this receiver, the frequency synthesizer and tuner went out. Thankfully, I have knowledge of electronic repair, so I am in the process of ordering and replacing these two components. Other than my time, the electronic component costs will run around $95. If I knew that this receiver had these issues, I would not have purchased it. Going forward, I would suggest that if you are into vintage stereo receivers like I am, I would focus your search on Vintage Stereo Receivers "Serviced" that have already been serviced. Make sure the capacitors have been replaced.

  • Awesome bass output!

I was heartbroken when my previous Nakamichi was damaged in a move rendering it useless and when I saw this one available for sale, I jumped at buying it. Always excellent sound output with full bass and very easy to set up.
