Gates 31838 gas cap
The Gates 31838 replacement gas cap is a well made, excellent product. The "no-name" gas cap I received from auto zone feels cheap in comparison to the Gates. I ordered this Gates gas cap because the auto zone one failed within a year. I highly recommend Gates for your replacement gas cap needs.

Better than OEM!
It's looks to me as a better build than the OEM. It locks nice and tight. Just 3 clicks past it locks. Drilled hole on the top center and was able to attach my cap holder. Worked excellent on my 2004 Mazda 6 and got rid of my P0455 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected Gross Leak code.

Nice replacement cap at a nice price
Four stars for a nicely made replacement cap. Would happily give it five stars if the cap came with the hole drilled in the top so I could reuse the factory tether strap.

Worked like a charm!!!
Worked like I was hoping it would. My check engine light kept coming on because the factory gas cap wouldn't tighten up (age) causing the sensor to show a false reading. With the new cap, it stopped the problem right away.

No work in Nissan Sentra 2006
The code P0455 means an EVAP system leak detected. As always, check the gas cap first. A common problem in this vehicle is a bad vent control valve. It's installed at the charcoal canister at the back of the car, close to the right rear wheel
