Your choice of CPU can include any 2nd-gen Intel Core i7, i5, or i3. Asus has configured the board for the ATX form factor, and it measures 12 by 9.6 inches.Take control of your system with a UEFI BIOS that ensures fast boot and system check. The Asus EZ Mode makes routine BIOS adjustments simple. When you require finer control, an advanced BIOS mode provides you a mouse-controlled user interface with sophisticated capabilities. Take BIOS snapshots, swap BIOS profiles with ease, and dial in a stable overclock for your CPU. Asus also provides Auto Tuning technology that can help you get close to an ideal CPU OC and avoid a lot of trial and error.For hardware expansion, the P8Z68-V motherboard features two PCIe 2.0 x16, one PCIe 2.0 x4, two PCIe x1, and two legacy PCI ports. A dual-GPU setup is supported for both NVIDIA and AMD cards, in which case those two PCIe ports will run at x8/x8. Using Intel integrated graphics is also an option, and the P8Z68-V provides HDMI, DVI, and RGB connections. There is also iGPU support in the BIOS. For those making use of discrete graphics, the Virtu implementation lets the system use the iGPU when dedicated processing power is overkill. The onboard audio implementation is based on Realtek ALC892, which can deliver 8-channel high-definition audio. Content protection for Blu-ray video playback is also provided.The P8Z68-V motherboard employs a dual-channel memory architecture and supports non-ECC, un-buffered DDR3. It has four DIMM slots and can support up to 8GB per slot for 32GB of total system memory. Typically, this memory type will operate at between 1066 and 1600 MHz. Using Intel XMP, however, you can achieve overclocks of 2200 MHz and even higher. For connecting hard drives and solid-state drives, Asus provides two SATA 6Gb/s, four SATA 3Gb/s, and one eSATA 3Gb/s connection. Raid 0, 1, 5, and 10 configurations are supported as is Smart Response Technology. This Asus board suits a range of Windows operating systems.Connect your computer to a local network through an Intel Gigabit LAN controller. This connection complies with the 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet standard for reduced power consumption. It also features dual interconnection between the LAN controller and the physical layer for faster transfer speeds. The Asus P8Z68-V motherboard also features onboard Bluetooth V2.1+EDR. The included BT GO! Software lets you sync files and use your mobile device as a PC remote with ease. The Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 motherboard provides 12 USB 2.0 ports via the Intel Z68 chipset. Perfect for my build
I was trying to build a budget PC from scratch so I went cheap where I could. Ended up with a used used i5 2500K 3.3GHz and a new GTX 1060 (didn't skimp here) running on this board for about $700 altogether. Runs every game I've tried on max settings 1080p for a month now, no problems! This old (5 years?) processor is still a beast and runs great on this board, which has total overclocking capabilities and can run 1600 MHz memory even though it's not standard for it. Board came in good packaging, was like-new condition and had protective cover over socket pins. I also like how it looks. Arrived quickly and almost as advertised.
Had a bit of an issue getting it to POST at first, but after re-seating the CPU it booted no problem. Had to reset the CMOS for overclocking settings to work. It's a lot smaller than I expected, I'm used to my full ATX mobos. Packing was good and arrived fairly quickly. Did NOT come with CPU socket cover as was advertised, but luckily no pins were bent or damaged. Great board with good features
I got this board 'cuz my old one was a Micro and couldn't handle SLI. With this board- I'm using an i5-3570k, 8gbs 1333 RAM, 2x 1TB 7200rpm Seagate HDDs, 750w PSU 80+brns, and SLI GTX 970s. The model a bit old (2011 I think) but it supports pretty much everything you might need. It can handle 3-way SLI (8x, 8x, and 4x) has plenty of sata ports, fits 1155 CPUs, and even comes with a power and reset switch- so it's good for a test bench too. Haven't had any issues, solid board. And the lack of an I/O shield doesn't bother me, personally. For how much I payed, happy with what I got.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished
