Video Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uL8rPIm2MIU -Buy it for the story not the gameplay If you are the type of player that gets annoyed every time a cutscence pops up through your play-through or if you buy games simply for the multiplayer… then move along. Beyond is not for you. While there is nothing wrong with that aspect of the industry this game is more for the people that enjoy the ride much more than punching, jumping, or shooting. This is a game would appeal more to movie goers than gamers. In a world where every developer seems to want to implement set pieces, scripted gameplay and QTEs; Beyond says “Screw it” and makes a game out of JUST THAT. The gameplay is actually my biggest concern and gripe with the game. To start with, YOU can’t DIE! Events will change and Jodie will be mauled, maimed and slaughtered if you mess up but she will not die. The Welcome to the CIA mission acts as a tutorial to introduce the lackluster combat & stealth that is comprised in Beyond. Just like you interact with everything in the world you engage in combat through the right thumb-stick; time slows down and you are expected to evade or hit the enemy by hitting at certain direction on the stick, unfortunately the direction you’re supposed to hit isn’t always clear and you will find yourself fumbling more than you would like. The stealth sequences take some getting used to as far as the controls go. I can honestly say that Jodie controls about as well in these sequences as the Tank Controls do in the original Resident Evil. They work… but it takes a while to get used to them. Gameplay issues aside the STORY is phenomenal! The bottom line is that after I was done and the credits were rolling I just thought to myself “I’m glad to have played it.” Quantic Dream delivered a great story and experience. I really enjoyed going through it. With that in mind, some of the issues that I had with the game keep it from being a GREAT game, that and the fact that a $60 price of admission is a little steep for an interactive movie.Read full review
So much hype. Once again a game did not live up to the hype. There are multiple story possibilities but playing it once was chore. You play by pressing a button when prompted. There is no freedom. The story plays at various years of Jody's life. Which is fine. Except it plays a specific year with a specific event only if it relates to the up-coming current year game play. Playing from childhood to adulthood would have been more profound the controls are temperamental. Sometimes not responding at all. I tried to play with the mobile phone option. I couldnt. It worked at first but with limited response then it wouldnt work at all. Then it wouldnt connect. Over all i am glad i do not pay full price for video games.

While it's lacking in the graphic department the story of the game is still compelling enough to make this game worth playing, the story is so intriguing i finished the game in one session. I must mention however that the PS3 version DOES have some issues with unstable frames per second. All in all i recommend this game only to patient people looking for an interesting story and basic Quantic Dream gameplay.

It's an interesting game that feels a bit like a movie! It even has a character based on Willem Defoe! The gameplay can be a little tricky, but once you figure it out, it's a fun game!

The story, the characters, and the visuals are great. Really entertaining and it captivates your attention all the way, so far I’m really intrigued with this game. I haven’t finished it, and I don’t want to end it so soon. Recommended.

The only problem I had with this game was the timeline hopping. It was a bit confusing. But other than that, the graphics are god, the overall storyline is great, and the concept is interesting and will keep you interested until the end (if this is your kind of thing, of course).

Now that you can get this game at giveaway prices, it's worth buying. Gameplay is a little confusing for me, I can't figure out how to switch to chapters I've already played within the same game. But the biggest caveat for me is the game isn't really HD. It only will output to either 480p or 720p. Although most HDTV's will output 720 as well as 1080, mine wont so I'm forced to play the game in SD
