Good quality zoom for Pentax
Have used lens for some time and I enjoy having just one lens that does everything. Wide angle to zoom and closeup. The image quality is good, especially if you stop down to around f8. Close up capability is nice especially since it is at the telephoto mode. Again, the more you stop down the better the sharpness. It is on the heavy side but what do you expect for this type of zoom and all the glass involved. Unlocking the lens will cause it to slide down to tele position if you are not careful and hold the camera facing down. There is definitely a noticeable decrease in color saturations compared to my Pentax DA star lenses. However, it does have an incredible focal length and is fast , and a Focal length not offered by anyone else. In the old days my absolute favorite lens was a Tokina ATX 50-250. an amazing macro lens! I am hoping to over-expose and develop from raw format to modify the saturation levels, to create what my eye compares too my minds eye of the actual shot when it was composed. One lens for all occasions.
Lens has met all my expectations. The range from 18mm to 250mm eliminates the need for having to carry around more lenses. The sharpness and contrast values are more than adequate and the zoom is smooth and easy to use. Very pleased with images. I mainly shoot landscapes which means I'm shooting at a small aperture therefore keeping everything in focus.
