Wow!
This was one of the best upgrades I've done yet. It's the 2nd gen ssd but it still has the TRIM delete management system IMPORTANT for long life of the ssd. Not as nice or expensive as the 3rd gen ssd but it's lightning fast and won't run as hot as a mechanical drive. It's small so won't fit in a typical hdd slot in a pc tower but it "will" fit and work great too. I use (the 2 original hdd's) a 1 tb for storage of very large ISO files and the 500gb one for a system image, WAY better than system restore (useless) or system backup (disabled) so now everything works fast even if disaster strikes and I have to reinstall from a system image it's still the fastest way. Installed into MBP. However...
Tried and tried to use this with external USB - Sata cable on USB 2.0 HDD would only stay powered up intermittently and I thought drive was defective. Turns out that a single USB external is NOT enough power for this thing. EIther use a SATA to USB cable with dual male USBs or do as I did- installed it into MBP, then turned on computer holding Command + R and then restored from Time Machine backup. That worked. If you don't use time machine or a backup of some sort make sure you get a cable that has dual USB ends so you can have enough power to work with this thing.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
