Product Information
This electronics mount is made from powder-coated, marine-grade aluminum. It has a double socket arm mount that sits on a 2.5-inch diameter round base with a 1-inch rubber ball and flat rectangular plate. The rectangular plate has pre-drilled holes that can match up to virtually any electronic device. The mount rubber ball socket technology dampens shocks and vibration. Not universal as sold.
I ordered this for a Hummingbird Helix 5 thinking it would be an easy mount on my boat since it is advertised as "Universal" but the holes don't come close to matching up. I can either mount it to my unit using only 1 hole or drill new holes in it for secure mounting. The Helix is a very popular unit with many millions sold. If this ram mount doesn't fit the Helix it shouldn't be advertised as universal. Otherwise it seems to be well built and strong.

Works well for Marine GPS Lowrance and Garmin
I'm using this on my fishing boat for a front mount Lowrance unit, it replaces a smaller RAM mount that I was using on a smaller fish finder. I looks as though it will fit my Garmin unit as well, the RAM mount has a variety of predrilled holes to chose from. I use a Hummingbird Helix 5. I could not find a matching hole pattern so I had to drill a couple of extra holes. No problem. A bit small for my unit (heavier).

Tough as nails
I worried about it's holding power, but no more. After several blistering trips back to the ramp in 30 mph winds, it took the pounding perfectly. My hook 7 barely moves when the boat slaps wave after wave in our horrendous north west afternoon winds. I've even got the mount horizontal so I can see over the unit while running.

Works like a charm
I used it to mount my Gamin EchoMap 73cv. It has held up very well so far. I was worried that it would not hold up to bouncing on the waves with that big of a chartplotter but I have hit some big waves and not had a problem.
