Rejuvenated the platten of my '60s steno machine!
I recently bought an old 1960s steno machine (a machine that writes in shorthand) from ebay. And when I put the steno paper in the machine, the platen had lost its tackiness and didn't grip the paper well resulting in the paper not moving as it's supposed to. I went on google to see if a company fixed old steno machines. I found one company, but it didn't return my email, and when I tried to call the office, I got an answering machine message to leave my name and phone number and an official would get back to me. I was getting nowhere fast. As a last resort, I looked on ebay to see if there would be something that would bring back the tackiness of the platen, short of re-covering it with rubber again. I found CaiKleen that had a lot of great reviews and happy customers; and I, therefore, decided to buy and try it. This Caikleen product works! The platen on the steno machine grips the paper as it's supposed to again! I like this product so much that I've put it on the platen of my typewriters (I collect typewriters and repair, maintain them as a hobby).
