Don't get those other off-brand Gamecube adapters that are a little cheaper but have input lag and flimsy hardware. As someone who has tried both, just spend the little bit extra and get this one. Works great. No need to spend big on the official Nintendo brand one.

I've tried this adapter on both Linux (Kernel 5.4.34) and Windows 10, and while it works perfectly out of the box on Linux (Both PC mode, and Wii U mode with Dolphin), there's one small issue with it on Windows 10. While PC mode works fine on Windows 10, Wii U mode doesn't work out of the box. This can be fixed using Zadig to install the proper driver, following the documentation from Dolphin Wiki (Just Google search "how-use-official-gc-controller-adapter-wii-u Windows" without quotes, and go to the dolphin-emu website). Once this is done, Wii U mode works flawlessly on Windows 10, and should work similarly on any Windows version that still supports the Dolphin emulator. The only other thing you should do is set proper deadzones, as the adapter won't do this for you, and even good quality Gamecube controllers can benifit from calibration. On Linux, this is pretty difficult (Too complicated to go over in a single review), but possible for both the Joystick API and evdev, as I've done it myself. On Windows, this can easily be done from the configuration panel, by navigating to Hardware and Sound, then to Devices and Printers (With the adapter and controller plugged in, set to PC mode), then right click on the controller, and click on Game controller settings. From here, click properties, and in the settings tab, click the calibrate button. The rest is handled by a very self explanatory setup wizard. All in all, this is absolutely perfect if you want a good controller for your PC, but don't want to buy something cheap and nasty, or expensive. Using a Gamecube controller with Dolphin to play Kirby Air Ride felt exactly as I remembered the game feeling on the original hardware, minus the increased resolution, and widescreen. This is absolutely worth it if you have a Gamecube controller, and it's worth buying a second hand controller with this if you don't have one. Overall, buy it, just buy it.Read full review

Bought the adapter a few days ago and got it last night, looks like a poor-quality plastic adapter, but I was reserving judgment until I saw performance. It came in a box with absolutely no brand name of any sort. Made in China obviously. It works fine for me in the menus, but strangely during gameplay only some of the buttons work, and the joystick doesn't work, so your character is stuck standing there. This obviously renders the adapter useless. I fidgeted around plugging the USBs into the different Wii U slots, but always got the same results. I must sadly report that this is a waste of money, and cannot recommend it to anybody based on my experience.
