Clamp hard to get set right on small steak knife.
I only rated this 4 stars because so far I haven't has a chance to really find out how well it works on different knives. I tested on a steak knife and it worked pretty good, but took longer then I thought and clamp had to be adjusted several times as the knife kept moving. Maybe I just need more practice. I can't tell yet if it's a good value for the money. But I like the fact it has different grades of coarse stones and angle can easily be set.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Simple design that anybody can learn, however if you completely unfamiliar with knife sharpening choose a standard kit vs diamond. Diamond is better suited for harder steel such as vg-10. It can definitely still be used on softer steel but it will remove more material faster, just don't press very hard. A good cutting fluid is recommended during sharpening to aid in removal or excess material and keep the stones from clogging.every type of steel has advantages and disadvantages but this set makes sure they're all sharp.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great product, which offers total control of the sharpening process
It sharpens my pocket knives and other knives under 9 inches long really well, and I don't have to worry about it taking off a lot of metal like the electric sharpeners would do. A Quality diamond sharping system!
This is a great kit very easy to use once you done it a few times. With 4 grades of diamonds from cores to very fine unless your blades chipped or broke you should be able to bring back a hair shaving edge.Come with a decent case, the clips the hold the guide rods are extremely tight be careful not to bend the rods to much getting them out.The only thing I can think of that this kit is lacking would be a nice piece of leather strap If your looking for a good kit for knife sharpening I don't see how you would be disappointed with one of these. Low quality junk.
"Fine" hone is not that fine at all and wore out after sharpening only a few knives with it because the abrasive layer is extremely thin and poorly bonded. Impressive Tool, Works Very Well
Works very well. The bracket can be a little tricky on smaller knives. I would like to see a larger bracket that holds smaller blades a little better. It still works, but I recommend tightening the screw every time you flip the bracket on small blades. It will put a factory edge on a blade. The guide helps maintain a consistent and precise angle.
