Great old comedy inspired by skits from Saturday Night Live shows of the time with John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as Jake and Elwood Blues - The Blues Brothers. This is a crazy plot that includes orphanages, prisons, Nazis, Nuns, KKK, Redneck country singers, high-speed chases through a shopping mall, Big band sounds, local and ethnic blues, a psycho ex-girlfriend with everything from bombs to guns to rockets, etc! One thing is for sure; You'll enjoy this film. You will crack up at the crazy antics and you will love the music. Jake just got out of Joliet prison and Elwood picks him up in an old Mt.Prospect black & white police car. They go to the orphanage where they grew up, to see the Penguin - (Mother Superior). She tells them that they need $5,000 in ten days for taxes, or the place closes and the kids are out on the street. There they run into an old and dear friend, Cab Calloway, who payed harmonica and was their musical inspiration as kids. Next they go on down to "The Tripple Rock", a jive black church where James Brown is the Reverend Cleothis. Here the idea is hatched to put back together "The Band". The rest of the movie is all about the crazy steps they go through to reassemble the band members, get a little rehersal, and land a gig that can earn $5,000. Well, all along the way, they wreck total havoc, angering the Chicago Nazis, a country beerjoint owner, a Redneck country band, and hundreds of local and state cops. The band finally performs to a sold out house and with the money in hand, there is a mad dash to get to the Cook County Clerk's office to pay the taxes in time to save the day. This is a hilarious movie and it will keep you laughing all the way through.Read full review

This is some great stuff. The music, the car chases and the silliness make this a real fun movie to watch. Just don't take it too seriously. Obviously, there were scenes that could not happen in real life. I never saw Cab Calloway in concert, but he apparently still had it going on way after his prime. He musta had had a ball in that movie. And there is nothing hotter than a woman holding a guitar or a machine gun. Make that woman Carrie Fisher and...Wow! P.S. Don't get Blues Brothers 2000. It's just a trashy re-make of this one.
Absolutely love this movie! So funny. Dan and John are just perfect together! Movie was in excellent condition and arrived really fast!
