Thermomart PID-RS ramp & soak kiln temperature controller
This programmable controller works great I have used it to control four glaze firings,and the program executed flawlessly. It was difficult to learn how to program, and the example in the manual was useful. But my controller worked slightly different than the example; Program the time of the ramp (r01 =60 for example), program the length of the soak (T01=0 for example) then program the end of ramp temperature in C (C01=180 for example). Only the actual sensed temperature can be change to degrees F... It is great to turn on the control (run=3) and walk away and the controller takes care of the kiln for you in accordance with your programmed instructions. Excellent kiln controller.
This is a very capable Kiln controller that allows up to 50 steps. You can program the time to next stage and the temperature at the next stage. I'm using it to control a small kiln with a solid state relay. The programmer controls the relay, but the relay is not included. After running the autotune the temperatures are spot on (plus or minus 3 degrees centigrade). The learning curve is a little steep, but once you get the hang of programming it you'll agree it was worth the effort. It only displays in centigrade. No fareinheght. Amazingly Powerful
I purchased this PID controller for my electric kiln and wanted to have several ramp/soak segment options. Installation was a breeze and came with an easy to understand wiring diagram. The programming aspect of this PID controller was definitely a lot more involved. Not that it was difficult to actually program it, but since I had never worked with a PID controller there was a lot of terminology that I had to learn first. Once I did, by following some of the examples they provided in the quite well-written manual it was surprisingly simple to get it to do what I wanted it to do.
