  • STACO workhorse.

Product was excellently packed. Product did not work out of the box. Needed some cleanup. Replaced the power switch and now I have a solid working STACO. Examined the old power switch and found the grease had dried up inside causing mechanical switching problems.

  • Your Van Halen variac

This was made in the 70s and still works fantastic. What does that tell you about the build quality? They do not make them like this anymore. This is your gateway to messing with amp voltages like Eddie Van Halen did. Turn it down, turn it up, it does work. It does change the sound of your amp. Be careful, use at your own risk.

  • Staco Variac 10 amp model 3PN1010

A handy and well built variac that is fused, has an outlet, and my model is even capable of boost voltages, although I usually use it to lower voltage into vintage electronics. Unfortunately, mine was poorly packed and arrived bent and unworkable as received. I've fixed it but shippers should pack well because something this heavy being tossed around in an ill packed box will definitely break.

  • Good coil but bad fuse holder with a lot of trash

The variac came with a broken fuse holder and no spare fuse. I had to replace its fuse holder with one from a broken variac. There are a lot of trash inside the coil chamber when I opened it up to change the fuse holder: a handful of things like mini springs and plastic washers. After replacing the fuse holder, the variac works as intended. The first image is about the trash that came inside the variac. The second image is the variac after I changed the fuse holder.

  • Variac Reveiw

variac works great for what I need it to do. I use it to bring up vintage radio gears with a current limiting setup.

  • Staco variac..vintage.

Works well after cleaning...contact issues required proper cleaning of Variac control.

  • Good with a little shortcoming.

The only problem was that the knob is not original and does not have an indicator as the original has.
