Simply put… First I live on the fringe between two cities that transmit DTV about 68 miles each from my home. I do realize that DTV has many problems keeping sync that far away. My previous Esky antenna with built in amplifier and rotor cost me $24.99. ( I did not use the rotor I manually adjusted and left it there.)It worked very well (38 DTV stations) but I wanted to improve the signals of the stations that I already receive and maybe add a few new ones. I installed the new antenna in the same outside location, same coax etc. I even installed the recommended CM-7778 amplifier. To my surprise this new installation after adjusting the antenna did not perform any better than my previously installed antenna. And in some cases at times performed a little worse. So for the cost of the new antenna and amplifier, I’ve more or less wasted money. I did work with Channel Master and they were very helpful. I will keep the new antenna and install the larger CM-7777HD Amplifier and hopefully that will make a difference. The CM-4228HD is more than twice the size of my original antenna. Bigger is not always better!

  • Reception is quite adequate for the stations it receives

Reception is quite adequate for the stations it receives; unfortunately it does not receive all the stations I previously received with the old antenna - and, of course, one of those stations broadcasts my favorite programs. Despite many hours fiddling with it, including adding an outside booster, the missing stations are still missing. For the record, the antenna - with rotor - is mounted atop a 20' tower on a 10' pole attached to the back of my home. Beam pattern seems very narrow which necessitates re-aiming the antenna almost every time the TV channel is changed if I want the best reception According to TVfool's charts, my favorite missing station is 28 miles from my location and is within range for good reception. With this antenna, I receive several other stations a much longer distance away - some over 40 miles. In fairness, I must say that I have purchased a couple other "'fringe" antennas since I purchased this one. They don't receive my favorite channel either. I may have to re-install my original antenna - a Channel Master.

  • Best antenna there is for directional signal.

I have tried many different antennas, this is the one, brought in all stations 100 percent. I did not know how beautiful the HD picture was until I set up this antenna. I am lucky all stations in one direction for me, this is a non directional antenna so if you need omni directional youll need a rotor,

  • Works awesome! Superior UHF reception

I had a 2 bay antenna and lost HD signal on a favorite channel after a resent channel repack. This antenna combined with a pre-amp fixed my reception problems and picked up more channels. I have a mountain that interferes so I’m super happy with this antenna. I did have to extend my J pole mount to attach it.

  • Good uhf a little disappointed with upper vhf

I was trying to receive channels from Tampa Fl. in Chrystal River 75 miles away. The transmitting towers are at 165' and I am aimed right at them( 7 stations transmitting from there). I get the uhf stations at about 40-45 per the tv reception indicator and the vhf channels 8 nbc and 13 fox are too week to watch. The antenna is 15 feet high and I have a pre amp 8 feet from the antenna mounted to the mast.

  • Still my favorite

I was a television repair man and antenna installer in the early 80s in the Branson area. I replaced channel master antennas that were damaged by storms, some were 25 to 30 years old and still performing well. You can tell their older antennas, the plastic was not UV treated and became brittle. Their eight bay antenna is good for 50 to 70 miles before you need a booster depending on terrain and station power.

  • I'm HAPPY!

I live in a poor reception area. I tried another brands large omni directional antenna and couldn't receive my local CBS, FOX or PBS stations. Put up my Channel Master and now receive all of those channels plus 36 more. No more high price monthly satellite bills with my Channel Master and streaming services.

  • Excellent antenna

Excellent antenna for fringe areas. Using with a channel master amplifier. Getting good reception from stations 70 miles away. Very easy to mount and set up. Highly recommend.

  • Works, but not any better than the smaller, cheaper antenna it replaced.

Built well, easy install but not really worth the money. Every antenna install is different. So everyone's experience will be different. In my experience this antenna works, but not one bit better than the much lower priced yagi antenna. The next antenna I buy will just be a bigger yagi.

  • Works better then my 4 bay of the same style

It receives the channels I had on my old antenna without interruption. My old antenna would cut out a lot but It doesn't get the reported distance. I'm 53 air miles from 3 towers and it doesn't even try to pick them up. I have the antenna in an area clear of any obstructions and it's almost line of sight to the towers but no reception from them. I would still recommend it.
