Great little battery operated or AC power corded AK/FM radios! Good price from eBay. Well built, nice looking with easy controls. I have 3 of these now.

The FM sound quality was good, and the selectivity was fair. The AM reception, sound quality and selectivity was very poor. The packaging materials were in good condition and along with the product container box, it appeared as if the item had been shipped before. I only tried operating the radio using the 110VAC line cord. I did not try using batteries. The main reason I purchased this was to use it with AM only. The reception description was covered above. I have another AM radio which is very old, and I wanted to replace it because I listen to nearby AM Programs for news and information from AM programming. The handling and information exchange with eBay was excellent. I used eBay for many years to sell reconditioned radios. My ID is HAMEVAN

FM reception rivals my long range Sangean. Even without extending the antenna. We are in a fringe area. Sound quality is also very good. Different than the Sangean but just as good. Daytime AM reception is poor. Very poor. Radio filters out little if any AM noise. At night and on battery it's better but still bad. Nearest AM Clear Channel station with any power is about 60 miles away. Regional or shaped AM broadcast stations don't even come in over the static. For FM this radio is a winner. For AM it's a loser. Note: Hinges on battery compartment cover are fragile.

The sound is clear and has volume, no tinny sound at all. It is very easy to use and the front tuning windows are very easy to see and make setting on a station easy! Also can grab it on the run if one wants - it is light and handle is great. Love it.

This item was a gift for my wife's friend, who only had an AM radio and wanted an AM FM radio. She absolutely loves it. She lives in a very small apartment and wanted a small radio to listen to foot ball games with, she has no TV and does not want one, so we gave this to her and she was delighted with it.

I purchased this for my mother, who needed a new, easy to use portable radio. It is just that, and has a good sound, and reception.

Reception on AM is about the only knock i have on this radio. Sound on FM is excellent. LED lighting doesn't cause any static interference with this radio like it did with my old one. Nice compact size and has easy to use analog controls. I have only run it on AC plugged into my power, but it is nice to have battery power backup in the event of power outages.

Great looking and big sound with the 4 inch speaker. Mine has very clear music with zero static. I love it. Don't know why so many others have so much trouble with static.

This radio is the newer "D" version which uses a digital tuner instead of the Sony "Radio on a Chip" I'm comparing this to my not so old Sony ICF-506. The 506 was a good radio, but s co worker spilled coffee on that radio and ruined it on me. I purchased this as a cheaper alternative thinking it wouldn't be as good as the Sony. But now that I have this radio I wish I had bought this one first! The battery life lasts twice as long as the Sony does! The reception on AM/FM is slightly more sensitive or powerful? I work in steel frame building which makes it hard to find good stations, but this Panasonic gets about 10 more stations on FM then the Sony was able to! On AM I'm able to get two more stations then the Sony. This could possibly be due to the Panasonic operating on a higher voltage which means it has stronger reception? As far as Audio goes on FM they're about the same which is good as I liked how even and crisp the Sony sounded. This Panasonic sounds just about the same! On AM however this is where things change. The Sony had a deeper audio on AM for some reason. It made talk radio sound a little funny and any music played on AM wasn't a good experience. The Panasonic on the other hand has the same audio quality on AM as it does on FM so talk radio and music both sound fine. The tuning and volume dials are both smooth and sensitive, the included AC power cord is of good quality as well. Overall the Panasonic RF-2400 D is a great radio for $10 less then the Sony ICF-506. Go for the Panasonic if you want a modern AM/FM radio.Read full review
