  • Inexpensive major speed upgrade for HP DC7800 SFF computer.

More than doubled my processing power going from a Core 2 Duo 2.3gHz, easy install, upgraded BIOS, replaced chip in 5 minutes, now I have much more power. Only regret is that I waited to upgrade to this! Even though this processor is 8+ years old, it still is plenty capable for a multi-purpose home video server and whatever else I throw at it, including very intensive video re-encoding. Also happy it does not take any more electrical power at idle than my Duo, which was quite a surprise. The small form factor has a 240w power supply so I was a bit worried it would stress the power supply, but it still has plenty of power for future upgrades. Great purchase!

  • Just the right price and performance to bring new life to old PC

This old Quad Core CPU is the sweet spot for price vs performance when you need to upgrade an older intel computer. No where near as fast as current processors but then of course you can't use current processors in old computers. Used this to upgrade from a dual core E8400 and by Passmarks ratings it is twice as fast as the 8400 despite the slight reduction in frequency from the E8400. Worth the upgrade in order to get a couple more years out of an old PC.

  • Great cheap way to speed up an aging system.

This Q9550 is a great a noticeable upgrade over the E6300 cpu that came in my HP Compac Small Form Factor that I am making into an emulator gaming system. A great and cheap way to speed up a slowing but still perfectly usable system!!!! 95% of computer users don't need anything more than a cpu setup like this.

  • Vast Improvement over Core2Duo

Even when upgrading over a faster-per-core core2duo, the improvements are very easy to see. Graphics enhancements across all games that can access multiple cores, using the same equipment. I have mine paired with 8Gb Corsair DDR2, and an Asus R9 270X 4Gb DDR5 graphics card. Minecraft, Skyrim, and FNV are all graphically stunning with the upgrade to the Core2Quad, where they were already great with the Core2. If your board supports this CPU, and you're debating whether to move to a core i system, or move to this Quad... take the quad. It easily outscores my i3.

  • great value for the price

updated my PC from a dual core to qual core for perfomance improvement. Notiicable improvement on my Win7/X64 Box. Should have done this sooner. I did need to update the BIOS to get my old computer to recognize the new CPU, but that was my end. Recommended Vendor

I have a Dell Optiplex 780 SFF computer and I wanted to upgrade the CPU. I ordered the Q9550 quad core cpu and installed it. It was the easiest install I have ever done, and the performance difference is totally amazing.

  • Gets the job done for the price

I mean it would score 5 stars but by 2020 standards this processor is just ok, I mean it gets the job done and is extremly better then its older cousin, the core 2 duo.

  • Good upgrade over dual core E7500

Adding two extra cores really matters. Now the PC performs very good without lagging.
