A very good program, but still a lot of room for improvement
I switched from TurboTax to H&R Block's tax software about 10 years ago and never felt a need to switch back. This program works very well, except when you get to more specialized tax topics it fails to provide sufficient guidance or help cues in the side bar to get you through. The H&R Block program has a built-in function that helps you estimate which 'married " filing option (separate or joint) gives you the best bottom-line. A great function, except it is not sophisticated enough to work right and lead you to the right decision on filing option. I worked for H&R Block part time for over twenty years after retiring from my regular full time job and have used their Premium package at home for the last five years. It is easy to use right out of the box. Installation was a snap and it is simple too use. Instruction are easy to understand and easy to follow. Does the Job
I've used this product each year for several years now and now that I've got the hang of it, it all goes smoothly. Able to import static info from previous year to get started. Can enter stuff manually, skipping around as forms are received, or follow questions from beginning to end, or jump back and forth. Good for what I call intermediate level return, basic income, interest, dividends, stock sales, itemized or standard deduction. Supports electronic download of data from institutions that support that. Transfers stuff from FED to state return and allows adjustments to be made. E-file works great. By law, my state (NY) requires free upgrade to state E-file and that works well too. I don't think this version supports Sched C or 1041, but not sure. I don't need them yet so I don't care yet. Great title
I wasn't able to get it to work on my computer, although to be fair, my computer is old. However, I was able to get the 2018 version of H&R Block tax cut to work at this time last year, and it worked great. I have used tax cut for many years and it has always worked great. So I don't know how many stars this should get because I was unable to use it.
