In 2011 Apple released a 15" Macbook Pro with a faulty GPU chip in the A1286 logic board. In 2012 they fixed the issue. Unfortunately I have a 2011 MBP that went bad and had to replace the logic board with one from a 2012 model. So far the 2012 logic board that I purchased is working fine with no issues. I had to make a minor modification to the LVDS cable for it to fit the 2012 board, typical of Apple to make it difficult to do a clean swap. Anyway, this logic board seems to be working well and I'm happy with the purchase. Some helpful advice I wish I had previously, stay away from the 2011 Macbook Pro. Instead, look for a 2012 model which has been proven to have staying power.

My idea was to buy only the metal cover to repair a dent in a PowerBook, but to my surprise, the part came with a cover, keyboard, trackpad, superdrive, wireless card, etc. Everything in working perfectly! The case only had a small dent and a few scratches, but for the price it was actually much better than the one I originally had.
