The debut album by Lady Gaga is an amazing one. It features such amazing gems as Poker Face, Just Dance, Paparazzi, Eh-Eh Nothing Else I Can Say, and many more. These songs just have an amazing beat and unlike other pop songs [I honestly would not even label this as pop because it's an insult to Lady Gaga to be linked in the same genre as the talentless scum in that genre] the songs have intelligent lyrics that have meaning. There are some great slower songs such as Brown Eyes and Again Again...Summerboy and I Like It Rough are a few of my all time favorites.

This is my new go-to cd for the treadmill. All of the songs (with the exception of "Brown Eyes", which kinda sucks) have a good keep-you-moving dance beat. They're catchy tunes that stick in my head long after my workouts are over, and Lady Gaga's voice is better than most dance-pop artists. I do have to say that the lyrics on this cd are definitely lacking (my reason for only 4 stars). They go into all-out stupid territory sometimes. For example: "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick," from Lovegame. Or, "...'cause I'm bluffin' with my muffin," from Pokerface. Oh, and the phrase "cherry-cherry boom-boom" is in, like, 3 songs for no reason whatsoever (her trademark, maybe? Maybe at 27, I'm just too old for this stuff). Still, it's a fun cd, and who listens to this type of music for the lyrics anyway?Read full review
This is music for the close of the age of Neoconservatism and the precipitous fall of the Age of Excess. It has emotional energy and emotional detachment. The instrumentals grab you; the lyrics stab you with an iciness only Dick Cheney could have engendered from his secure and undisclosed location. Lyrics so calculating, so egocentric, so into the flash, so, what can you do? Just Dance! If this were only a celebration of the excesses of our culture, material and egoistic it would be a flash in the pan. An enjoyable flash but that only. Listen deeply - echoes of Liverpool, hell a straight up Beatles wannabe song, will hit your ears. I think the Lady is trying to tell us something. The lads from Liverpool changed a musical generation, or three, in ways they could not even imagine. There are changes coming. The Lady Gaga knows it and can't keep from telling us. The Fame is deeper than it looks, as good as it sounds and hopefully the beginning of more to come.Read full review
