The Only Solution!
Plain and simple it is the only solution to equipment in a system with the same ir codes. You would think that manufacturers in todays world of multiple monitors would provide several ir choices in each product, but they don't. It's a primitive, but cheap way of solving the problem. And it's old. But it works. Use to be a real pain to pair hit or miss. Now it pairs in the program, made setup pretty easy. Only hassle is when updating changes to remote you must update extender. It's a pain but has to be done. When making updates to remote try to think of everything you need to do and take the time to do it so you minimize trips back and forth to rack and disconnecting extender each time to update it. And also keep in mind it is for now outdated remote units. However, they are basically good remotes and still work well enough.

unfortunately product for USA
The power supply is made for USA eg american Plug. I had to adapt to a Swiss connector. The remote unit did not work as a replacement of my defective unit. Fortunately the power supply works okay.
