Great mount - Sturdy, Reliable, Adjustable
This vertical mount is actually incredibly versatile. The initial impressions of this mount is... wow, it's sturdy. In general, these are used in work/fleet vehicles, but that's not to say you can't use one of these in your personal vehicle either. The assembly might seem a bit overwhelming as these come essentially in pieces, except for the arm - that's already assembled. Basically, you'll put the main pole down into the tube that's mounted on your surface, and at the bottom of that initial pole going into the tube, there's a spring with a unique clamping feature. When you screw down the big tightening screw at the top, that's expanding the clamp inside of the tube, forcing it in position. This means... it's adjustable not only vertically for rotating the arm around, but also horizontally because you can raise or lower that pole inside the tube, which raises/lowers the entire laptop tray. You'll then just tighten it all down whilst you're driving, you shouldn't be using it whilst driving anyhow. Typically, when I get done at a job site and get back into my vehicle to do the paperwork, the way I have mine set is that the laptop is already in a facing forward position to me - all I have to do is open the lid, and click my inverter to power it. I might loosen the tightening screw to pull it closer, but that's about it. The things to note if you're mounting this in a vehicle. Make sure you're willing to drill into the center console, because that's the standard area this is going. If not, think of ways to get a metal plate that can slip in between the center console & passenger seat - then, mount this to that plate, and secure the plate (zipties can be a good option to secure it down to the seat bolts - also, doublesided tape too). Ultimately, great product. It's a bit specific to need, but that's just name of the game. Even if you remove this from a drilled position, there's always little plastic plugs you can purchase to fill any holes, so you've still got options.
