I watched the author, Stephen Recker, talk about this book on C-Span and it piqued my interest. While I would consider myself a Civil War history nerd, and do own other Civil War photography books, I have not necessarily been interested in Civil War photography. That being said, I am very glad I made this worthwhile purchase, and it has made me re-open and re-read those other books. This is a niche book and probably not for everyone. It is full of previously unseen photographs of the battlefield taken years after the battle, and the interesting histories about those who took them. Mr. Recker makes conclusions about the locations of the where and when the photographs were taken, and by whom, by piecing together these minute clues that have been left behind. I highly recommend this book.
