The Beyerdynamic M201TG is a professional microphone meant for stage performances and public gatherings. The hypercardiod polar pattern design in the Beyerdynamic microphone eliminates off-axis sounds from the sides and rear, and focuses on the audio input from the performer. A hum-buck coil in this professional microphone negates the interference from video setups and prevents the humming effect. A dynamic moving coin transducer in the Beyerdynamic microphone makes it less sensitive to background noise and therefore yields better sound clarity. Sax mic shootout winner
Check out Walter Ruckdeschel's saxophone mic shoot out on Steve Neff's site. He compared a lot of mics and found this one to be best for live performance. I bought this because I'm tired of playing on s**tty mics that sound companies sometimes use for sax. It's a dynamic mic so you don't need to worry about phantom power. It's reasonably small and lightweight so not a problem to carry around. It has a hypercardioid pattern, so less likely to feed back. And it has a nice full range, but not screechy highs.
