Good, but with one caveat
Used this card in a machine whose onboard Realtek chipset stopped working. This worked a treat and can be used in a small form factor case with the included low profile bracket. It also has an HD Audio connector for front panel audio jacks. Windows 10 picked it up right way, and ASUS has drivers available to get a full control panel, which has plenty of features (effects, pitch shifting, karaoke/vocal reduction) and is straightforward to use. Unlike the similarly priced Sound Blaster Audigy Fx, this card can record 'Stereo Mix'. The stereo mix counts as an input device though, and this card can only use one input at a time so you cannot record from the line in/microphone and stereo mix at the same time. This may be a deal breaker for those who need to screencast and do not have a USB microphone.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Refurbished

I am happy with most anything ASUS and i have many of their products. This sound card is a huge improvement over the onboard sound on my computer but was not what i was looking for. The sound is crystal clear but was missing the thumping bass that i wanted. I think it would be a great addition to someone with a decent set of desktop speakers however. Great card, just get the drivers from ASUS website and good to go. A lot more support that creative has every had. One thing, most games output Dolby only threw the HDMI cable so the optical out is a no go for things like a turtle beach DDS sound processor.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Very good value. Easy to install. I paired this with a set of Klipsch Pro Media speakers and it sounds unbelievable. I have a set of Klipsch in ear headphones and the sound coming out of the card is crystal clear. Depth of field in headphones is sometimes hard to get, but this card pulls it off flawlessly. The sound quality is pretty good as was the value. I have always trusted ASUS to produce quality items and even though this was a re manufactured item, I had no concerns. To me it was almost better than any guarantee. I knew this sound card had been total checked out was was determined to be in good condition. Works fine with linux!
No issues installing on my Linux Mint computer. Jus make sure after installing and after boot-up you go to the Terminal and type "alsamixer" (without the quotes) then press "F6" - choose "xonar audiocard" then use the the right arrow to "Analog Output", then use the up & down arrows and switch to "Multichannel" .. Great sound card

What I needed to run the sound bar through optical output
